I hear Martinez doubled his flip.

The judging panel really came down on Nathan Chen. Two minor downgrades, and lots of lost levels in the spins and footwork. I actually think it was a bit too harsh.

I'm actually not sure why his first spin was nulled (Han Yan's spin was nulled too). It had the minimum six revolutions in each position. Did he have to do 2 revolutions in the basic sit position for it to count? Not sure there. It's pretty much the same spin that he did at JGP Austria.

I also think the triple flip he did was fine, and that the judges this season is being ridiculously nitpicky on the entry edge for the triple flip (they really want it on an inside edge, though I believe a flat edge is fine too).

For some reason, his Step Sequence was also downgraded to a Level 2 from a Level 4 in Austria, and his final combination spin was also a Level 1 from a Level 3 in Austria. I would protest the change in difficulty levels for these two elements.

The jump downgrades are appropriate in this performance, but I felt like the technical panel was mysteriously and ridiculously harsh.

(Also, Harrison Choate's step sequence was NOT a level 4. The technical panel is smoking crack.)

For what it's worth, the technical specialist is Terry Kubicka, USA. And there were very few flips that didn't get an edge call here.

The bit with the spins is also very puzzling. I'll have to run them several times to figure out why they weren't counted. Maybe I won't get it then either.

Nathan's 3F is fine as it is, he didn't get an edge call. Han Yan's 3F got an edge call, which I think is fair.

Oh, in this instance I mean the judging panel and not the technical panel. There seems to be one or two judges in particular who give a -1 GOE for 3Fs even if there is no edge call or any apparent mistake made by the skater.

Nathan Chen withdrawn. In the middle of FS, one warm-up earlier than his skating.

Why? Injury?
