I'm so glad he gave Ilia Klimkin as an example. He definitely was a guy who did cool stuff, not just the 3S direct from the spin, but spins in both directions, cantilevers, and some generally interesting stuff.

Ilia was the first man to land 2 different quads in one program (4S and 4T)

One he didn't mention for doing cool moves was Rohene Ward-you get to see some of Rohene's stuff in people he choreographs for.

I'll always love this EX of Rohene's

BTW, sometimes the coolnesses are in dance.

When Kurt did the commentary for D&W's Giselle SD at Skate America, he loved the jumps into the twizzles, and the toe dancing posing segment.

He also like the jump entrance into the pair spin, in Notre Dame, which he particularly called cool.

And V&M's Pink Floyd lifts were definitely, definitely cool (2009)

Kurt often enthuses about the cool moments in programs when he's doing commentary, so I always make an effort to find it to see whether something I find cool pegs his Cool O Meter as hard as it does mine

I believe those would be included in PCS, Choreography and likely S'S, and if they land it, probably Execution too, especially SS's 3Sth, last impression.

Explains why some moves are worthy of extra credit from a skater's perspective -- some moves that the current judging system rewards and some it doesn't officially value.

What a wonderful, open-hearted article. This is the way I like to view skating--not as if under a microscope, analyzing tenths of points like a racetrack bookie parsing the odds for a bet, but as a hungry person being given a feast of her favorite foods. If I want to multiply decimals, I'll work on my tax return. I watch skating because it makes me feel happy, and sometimes awed. Kurt and his cohort Shawn capture that feeling in the article.
