Apparently he landed both his quads and his 3Axels. He really brought it when he needed it the most. How can anyone skate after his performance I don't know and I am nervous already for Yuzuru

I never consider PCS can be accurately read as 1 absolute number in its 'mean' format, but prefer to look at them as a whole between upper tier and lower tier. More as as flashpoints/impressions while taking factors and variables such as where they are competing, who are their competitors, who's marking them, what the skaters did on the day, what was skater did at their last competition, what the skater's future the federation are pushing for, and how important is that competition. Momentum building is a funny thing, and having home events always helps.

I agree with this view. In fact I've been checking the "standard deviations" of the PCS scores (excl highest and lowest) of some of the skaters in the GPS and noted interesting phenomena. For example, Zijun at NHK had a very high SD, while Mirai's was relatively low. At the JP nationals, Kozuka's PCS's across various judges have very little variation while Hanyu's are more varied. Since JP Nationals are free of nationality bias, the main factor accounting for the differences in SD may be to do with the extent to which the judges take account of the future potential (or past achievement) of the skater. The relatively uniform PCS scores across judges Mirai got at NHK may be because judges are not expecting much from her and therefore judged on what they actually saw while the relatively high variation amonst judges with respect to Zijun's PCS's may be because some judges valued her potential highly. I wish I could devote more time to this analysis but I haven't got time so, so far I have done it with only about 10 skates. But, my working hypothesis is as follows:
- Up and coming skaters tend to have more variation amongst judges in PCS
- Non controversial skaters tend to have more uniform PCS
(when I talk about variability, I only refer to PCS horizontally not vertically in the score sheets, ie variability amonst judges, not variability within PCS items of one judge)

Kind of expected it. Beating Yuzuru, from this day on, will be a hell of a task. Good Luck.

....Daisuke.... But he gave his all that's the most important thing.

I am amazed he kept it together after Daisuke's performance. I really want to see both programs
Daisuke still won the LP. He is not going down easily

Omg... I wonder what they both actually did, these scores really don't say much. 187 is WR level and 192 is skejfnekcnewf beyond.

No, Nobu is forth place with 240.56, it's a mistake

Yeah, they just fixed it. But I liked Nobu in 3...

Mura is a great skater too, but I'm pretty suprised he beat Kozuka. Now it's going to be interesting who will make the world team.

Glad that Yuzuru made it (through reading comments it seems like it was not his best performance), can't wait to watch him and Dai on youtube.
Good result for Mura but I'm sad for Kozuka and Oda.
