That's a real shame. So now are we at 19 ladies? Does someone get to replace her?

... That's a real shame. So now are we at 19 ladies? Does someone get to replace her?

Czisny and Lam are out with injuries.

We all have been so busy discussing Czisny's Jan 12 injury and Jan 14 withdrawal in other threads that a week later Ziggy is the first to make note of it in this one. (The comment from Jan 6 was accurate as of that date.)

As samson notes, 21 ladies (listed in Doris' original Jan 6 post) minus 2 equals 19.
FWIW, no mention of replacements is in the USFSA announcements of Czisny's withdrawal (http://usfsa.org/Story.asp?id=48878&type=media) and Lysacek's (on Jan 18: http://usfsa.org/Story.asp?id=48896&type=media) ...

ETA: At the time of this post, USFSA has announced Lam's withdrawal only via the tweet above. No longer statement so far.

C. Gao profiled by USA Today (Jan 22)

Very nice profile of Christina Gao by USA Today (Jan 22):

Christina Gao juggles skating, Harvard studies

- An assortment of interesting details that give a good sense of her daily life juggling Harvard and skating (worth a read in entirety)

- Very brief mention near the end of the article (I hope of no consequence in Omaha):
"Though Gao is battling a recent groin pull, Johansson thinks she'll be fine this week."

- Apparent confirmation that she will compete again next season, no matter what :):
"A top-two finish would send her to worlds in March. If she doesn't go, there's school, preparation for next season's Olympic push and perhaps even some skating for fun."

I don't know about the SP, but assuming the latest incarnation of one "pirate" stream of the Tampa St Pete NBC affiliate does not get taken down beforehand, I will be able to watch the senior ladies live on Saturday at 8PM Eastern and not have to wait for the west coast tape delay. According the schedule of this latest incarnation, senior ladies will be live at 8PM Eastern on Saturday.

Bascially, subscription sites pop up that the cable companies hate, because they offer packages of cable channels for way less than what you would pay for the same package on cable, and this sevice's schedule has the senior ladies freeskate listed as being on NBC at 8PM Eastern on Saturday.

So if you want to watch Nationals live onlnie, look for sites that carry some feed of an NBC station on the east coast.

Is NBC going to have anything else live, besides the senior ladies free? I cannot find anything else in this site's schedules.

That is about the only way we on the west coast will be able to watch the final group of Ladies live is the pirate stream of the NBC affilliate. West coast doesn't matter to NBC or any network for that matter. Hell they couldn't even show live skating at the Vancouver Olympics and they were on west coast time.
