In this interview, Lyosha's temper or the relationship between Lyosha and Mishin described by himself isn't surprised me, however, I was  with the fact that Lyosha had done 4F, 4S and 4Lo in the training in 2001 summer. I have a sense maybe Plushenko and other top skaters of the era also got the ability to do some of those quads. They just not ready put them in programs since no need to take a risk on it. OMG, I can't help but to imagine how Lyosha's other quads would look like.

Now now, no need to dig up decades-old arguments... :eek:hwell: Thanks for looking, Plushyfan, but I'd seen those videos before and it's not any of them.

I decided to make a gif of the moment from the small clip I saw in a fan's compilation video, just in case anyone might recognize the competition: https://78.media.tumblr.com/68552f5614af46ba852b74e1e76f5756/tumblr_inline_p2axn0DLlc1sots0h_540.gif

Yagudin being an emotional person is a feature, not a bug. :)

This is not old argument. But this is not interesting.

Those videos are from the Rus Nat 1999. You asked them.

It seems the KC video is not that video what you were looking for.

I happen to know where it came from. Yes, it's from the FS of 1999 Russian Nationals but not in the competition broadcast. It probably came from some TV coverage, I'm not sure. I don't have the youtube link but here is the link from niconico.

By the way, Lyosha's temper and some crazy history of youth just make me love him more.

About jumps

I really like the text which was posted on FSU
(about Worlds 2001):
The men jumped and jumped and jumped during the practices at this Worlds. Alexei & Plushenko were out there practicing jumps they had never done in competition. (And Irina Slutskaya did a three jump combo as well in her practice). But the Russian men's practice is one of the strongest memories I have of this event. Alexei had the crowd in the palm of his hand before the event started. He was signing autographs after one of the practices and signing autographs and signing . . . The announcer had asked "the skaters to please clear the ice" several times. And finally the announcer said, "Alexei, please clear the ice." He hopped up onto the edge of the boards, so that his skates were off the ice, and kept on signing autographs.
(for me the link doesn't work anymore: )

His fans also remember, that Tarasova was sad, that we didn't have his 4F on a video. She said he didn't jump it in competitions, but he jumped it once in a warming-up of a profeccional competition. Maybe the American TV-workers have that tape...

I also think, that it is funny, that everybody say, that all other skaters competed only for the third place, when Yagudin and Plushenko competed for the gold medal, - but Yagudin says: "for example, Chinese skaters jump all the quads, so they can go further. We try to follow them." (he smiles)
(on the video which I had posted not long ago)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnpteMdEGb8

He knows, that most likely those jumping Chinese skaters won't win, but he says: "We try to follow them."
He wanted to be the first, but he even doesn't like to hear the word "a genius", when people talk to him. "We try to follow them." :)

OK. Sorry, Plushyfan. It seemed to me it was obvious, that nobody throws toys on your video, where he goes away. Thank you, if you really wanted to help, if you didn't notice, that nobody throws toys on your video.
You know, that I really had reasons to thank you not once.
:thank:

Lyosha's having a serious injured during that time, wasn't he? It reminds me there is a picture Lyosha siting on the board edge surrounded by fan girls. The picture just match the description above. Because Lyosha was wearing exactly the red sweater in one of the interviews after the qualification.

Is it possible due to the injury he's in a really bad mood and couldn't practice too much, so he decided to be with fans, you know, to have a good time?
Geeee, Lyosha is the cutest or what?:luv17::palmf:

Thank you so much!! :luv17: This is exactly it and it had been bothering me for months that I couldn't find it. When I watch it in context it looks like it's less that he's angry and more that his right leg was hurting, which makes me sad. But thank you again!!

:laugh2: I love him so much. And thank you Kuo for the photo, he looks so cute and this made my day!

Alexeilover has taped new perfect videos of "The Nutcracker" in Petersburg. I was surprised, when she wrote, that Lyosha is fast in "The Nutcracker", but it seems he is faster indeed than he was a year ago. And more inventive. What an awesome actor! :luv17:

Love to see Lyosha still has it. How cute is his "R" in English more like between "р" and "л" in Russian now.

Of course, he speaks English. :)
Alexei and Tanya were telling they tried to learn French, because their daughter speaks French. Maybe they still try, but Alexei was telling he was not very successful in this, because actually, he can speak English - even in France, even when he wants to talk to other parents (Liza has some French friends).

Yagudin was commenting men's short Olympic program for the "Russia" TV-channel (together with Zhurankov).
https://russia.tv/video/show/brand_id/62565/episode_id/1686328/video_id/1794346/ (the long video)

Here are some pieces which were interesting for me.

(about Brian Orser)
Zhurankov: he is a very smart expert. At least, in reference to his work with his students, how he tunes up one's mind before a competition.
Yagudin: It is a puzzle for me: how he prepares his athletes. As far as I know him, he is an absolutely gentle person, very kind, he lets everything go through his heart, everything what he does. Maybe it results in success for his students.

(about Misha Ge)
Yagudin: Misha is a shining example of an athlete who put his heart into his skating.

(about Patrick Сhan)
When they were skating together in shows, Patrick Сhan asked Alexei to help with his axel. Alexei tried to help, but nothing has changed. Alexei says, that the problem is in the beginning. It is possible to start axel from the edge or from the "stopper". Patrick has something between two possible variants. Patrick "absolutely doesn't go up".

(about Lambiel)
Yagudin: I guess Stéphane... (I've spent very much time with him, when we were skating in many foreign shows) I guess Stéphane is a person who lets all his work go through his heart. He can't just come to a training, spend some time with his students, make some comments and go away. Stéphane is one of those people to be proud of for the figure skating world. Maybe I shouldn't say, that there are few such people, but I guess he is as great as Nikolai Morozov, Alexei Mishin, Tatiana Anatolievna Tarasova, and many others. These are such coaches who will spend every minute, every second with a student. I guess Deniss (Vasilievs) went to Switzerland in order to have such an attentive coach, in order to work with great Stéphane Lambiel.

(about Denis Ten)
Yagudin: I know his parents. I know how deep they are involved into the complicated figure skating world.

And Lyosha was praising Denis Ten, of course. :)

And Lyosha was telling honestly, that recently he wasn't very attentive to news in figure skating. :luv17:
He says this is the first time he comments.

It is said Yagudin also was commenting girls, but I didn't have time to watch it, though girls are really interesting for me, of course. (These videos are so long!) :)
