Well as long as there is consistency and the generosity applies to most of the skaters, I think it's fine. Might be some inflation here due to it, but I'm happy enough if it doesn't affect the placings.

While we're all scrutinising Mao's 3A, did anyone think her 3Lo was a bit under?

Looked OK to me. But of course, she's still at risk with a tough tech caller. However, her jumps were on tonight. 1/4 borderline is the worst you could say about them.

Mao and Kanako's scores are inflated, considering their jumps that should have been downgraded. The technical specialist must be on the JSF's payroll.

Ok, here we go again. When Mao does a 2A, 3F-2lo and a 3lo, and gets something like a 66, she's so overscored, because she didn't do a 3-3 combo or something. Now that she did a 3A and the other two triples, ALL RATIFIED, her jumps should have been be downgraded, so she's overscored again. Well, haters can hate, Mao Asada was incredible and got the highest SP score of all the ladies since 2010 olympics. Nobody will change that fact. Congrats to her! An incredible and brave performance.

Thank you.:agree:

I don't think people scrutinize men's 3A's that closely...I think people watch the slow-mo over and over again. It looked clean.

Ignore the trolls. I watched in slow-motion her 3A and it was less then 1/4 UR(barely) which means the skater is given the benefit of a doubt.

Whether or not it was slightly under rotated or clean, hats off to Mao for coming back so far from that NHK win where she could barely land a triple. She has clearly worked so hard.

Mao was fantastic. I could watch her footwork over and over again. Her 3A was amazing, but the footwork was my favorite part of the program. She seemed so free, expressive and musical. What a treat!

Kanako and Christina were great as well. Can't wait to watch the others :)

Over the moon. And Mao seemed so happy! I'm so glad for her. She got level 3 on one of her spins, and still got 74. If she can replace her 3-2 with 3-3 and get all her levels, we are approaching 80.

Mao's spins got low GOE for her standard and this is right, her spins were slower today. If she adds a 3-3 and is more careful with her spins she could potentially crack 80 points
She scored more than the US champion and silver medalist in the Mens event

So predictable, after all, aren't you the one who said Mao is your least favorite skater? Just because you disagree with the results, to insinuate that the technical specialist is on the JSF payroll is totally uncalled for.

Haven't had a chance to watch it, yet - but I like the standings so far and it seems that Mao is really back. That score is great and if she keeps up I'll change my prediction in the Worlds thread in favour of Mao. And I'm over the moon for Akiko as well. I really hope for a great free, because her O program is so amazing!

Christina's SP is definitely a keeper and today was definitely the best rendition. I'm happy to see her do so well here, but on the other hand I wish she was going to Worlds after how consistent she's been all season except for the GPF. For all the talk of inflation, she got higher PCS here than at Nationals.

All of the final group except Gold were amazing. If only Kexin had the program to match her wonderful jumps.
