They don't have to medal to be relevant. All the US wants is 3 spots back, which they're on the cusp of getting.

I just meant that right now the US is only strong in Ice Dance. Men are meh Pairs are always weak and the women are just starting to come back.

At least ice dance judges know how to do their jobs. Probably the one discipline where controversy hasn't arisen in years, thanks to the consistent excellence of D/W.

Well, they certainly fell down on the job when it came to relative marking of PCS for I/K, Shibs, and maybe W/P. Definitely some dirty deeds going on there. Or the ISU needs to fund an optometrist for the panels.

Haha. Can't argue with that logic. Here's hoping that Ashley and Gracie will have the last word tonight.

V/M are plenty excellent too. Can't say they're not because of the mistakes they've been making this season ... D/W and V/M both produce consistency and excellence. Controversy only arises when Scott opens his damn mouth.

Cappellini/LaNotte have actually comfortably beaten Bobrova/Soloviev on the TES. But the judges have made sure on the PCS that they wouldn't overtake them. :/
They better be careful or the red haired Barbara might give them major attitude---or more lmao

Excuse me, last year in Nice, D/W were robbed again.... it was painful and even with the WTT consolation prize it still hurts to remember....

But compared to the men's FS. Now there was a disaster for the record books.

Yes because V/M have not won anything in the last four years?...no consistent excellence from them.

Extremely underwhelming performance from Pechalat/Bourzat.

An open program (the worst they ever had, IMO), more like an exhibition skate than a competitive routine. Little mistakes throughout, some elements just a little bit off.

B&S should CLEARLY get the bronze and I will be disgusted if they dont after a week of already often bad judging. I am not even a fan of B&S and quite like P&B but B&S were stronger today. Actually C&L should have gotten the bronze but no way the judges were letting that happen.

I thought she looked tired in V/M's kiss and cry. I wonder if the strain of having to balance two teams gunning for the top spot is starting to wear on her.

D/W won't leave her now going into next year- but will V/M?

I wonder as well if she's disappointed that "Carmen" didn't get the chance to really dominate and shine the way it should have this season. Earlier in the season there was an article that quoted her as saying that if you're Olympic champion you really need to push the envelope and come up with something ground breaking and that's why V/M came up with such a "different" and interesting FD.

Scott seemed very disappointed in the kiss and cry. The period between end of this season and beginning of Olympic season is just a heartbeat away. It's almost not feasible for any team to switch to a new coaching situation- way too much to get adjusted to. Maybe for a single skater or someone building for beyond the Olympics but certainly not for a team that will most likely retire after this next Olympics.

I'd look for them to retire before switching. Tessa's health/injury problems combined with a changing of the guard (permanent or temporary... who knows?) and a whole lot of money to be made elsewhere... why continue the grind?

They certainly have nothing to prove.

I think BS's masterpiece deserves a win over PB's programme.

Agree in this case. I don't mind Rolling Stones programs but this just seemed disjointed. I really prefer C/L getting bronze to the French of the Russians though. But it's not going to happen this year.
