I am so excited to watch. I love how they start the event with the mascot skating on the ice, followed by the adorable young skaters with flags for the various countries. The arena announcer is very enthusiastic too.

I don't get why Weaver/Poje's score was so low.. way behind Chock/Bates?!!!
-1 deduction too. I was happy to have the chance to see them skate again, since they were unable to compete for so much of the season. Heard Andrew say "No more polka" in the K&C. Too bad, I wish he enjoyed their program as much as I did;)

I just woke up, so I'll have to wait for the on-demand coverage to show up. However, I see a deduction on W&P, which will have something to do with it.

Protocols are up
http://www.isuresults.com/results/wtt2013/wtt2013_IceDance_SD_D_Scores.pdf

C&B Got level 3 for the step, and level 3 for one of the polkas, otherwise level 4.

W&P got their twizzle downgraded to a level 3 (not just the panel saw it, several judges gave it -1 or 0) and only level 2 on the step. And level 3 on both the polka sequences (one of which didn't get great GOE either) So they lost 3.5 to C&B in tech levels alone. Then they had an extended lift deduction.

Good for the Reeds! That's a personal best for them :)

W/P almost bumped into each other during the twizzles. She had to brace herself with her hands on his back in order to avoid a collision. C/B were effortless, so I agree w/ the placements

According to the protocol

C/B: 4/3 on the Yankee Polka, level4 on the twizzles, and level3 on the midline step sequence
W/P: 3/3 on the Yankee Polka, level3 on the twizzles, and level2 on the midline step sequence

W/P also had an extended lift.

W/P beat C/B on PCS, 33.21 to 32.19.

Sorry for the off topic, but what teams are currently working with Igor? I know Madison and Even are with him (he is their primary coach, right?), Anna/Luca (full time or only in the summer?) and I see the Reeds with him in the K&C. I know he also works with R/T but only "part time". Are there any other teams? It seems that after Sochi he will be the number one coach.

Does anybody know if the Short Dance is going to be available to watch anywhere later on?

I missed it because of confusion over the start time (see my post in the schedule thread if you want to know what happened)

I think they're all going to be up on the ISU site to watch, that's what it was like last year and underneath the live video I see videos of old events.

You may not know it, but Carron & Jones also are among Igor's sometime students:
http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00012355.htm
They jumped from 21st last year at Euros back to 12th.

He also was involved with Heekin-Canedy & Dun of Ukraine, who improved 3 slots at Euros and one at Worlds
http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00013630.htm

And his long time students, Tobias & Stagniunas, finished 15th at Worlds. If she can get her citizenship in Lithuania (unlikely), they are qualified for Olympics.

Plutowska & Gerber (POL) got their first trip to Worlds (they got their qualifying TES) with Igor, but didn't make the FD.

For a guy who was just fired & had no rink at this time last year, he's been amazing, and yes, I think he's coach of the year.

Bobrova has tweeted her support to the Russian dancers:

Rough translation: Good job, kids!! [Congratulations on] your first day! Keep going!!!

As for Shpilband, another team of his is Kriengkrairut/Giuletti-Schmitt -- who announced after U.S. Nationals that they were joining him.

ETA:
Another new team with Shpilband: Yura Min/Timothy Koleto, who plan to compete for Korea.
By the way, I learned from the link above that Greg Zuerlein is a member of the Shpilband coaching team. So former partners Zuerlein and Chock now are working together as coach and student, I guess??

C/B were fabolous, especially in the second half of the program, well deserved first place! They've improved so much since last year! (congratulations to Igor, obviously, who's doing a great job!)
Too bad about W/P score, but they looked a bit rough technically, yes, their score was fair I think...
And, what a shame about M/K twizzles, because I really like this program a lot!
