Looking For Specific Figure Skating Book (Pre 1988)

I'm desperately hoping someone can help me here.

Years ago I found a great figure skating book at our public library with some really interesting information on editing music and choreography. Since this is a field I would love to get into one day, I found it fascinating and I had intended to take notes. Unfortunately, it didn't happen and I returned the book without making a note of the title. They have since gotten rid of it and I want to find it again - through Amazon or Interlibrary loan if nothing else.

It was about the size of a coffee table book, one inch thick, with a yellow dust jacket. I remember there was a chapter on figures patch ice, as well as an extensive chapter on editing on a reel-to-reel recorder. It was a general book on skating, not a biography.

Does anyone know what this book is?

Good going, Doris! I was cudgeling my brains trying to think of any book that had even a glancing similarity to the clues given by Soundtracksonice. The Bezic book is wonderful; I love what she has to say about skating, and of course she is in the direct center of so many important skating events: she's choreographed for quite a few Olympic and World medalists, and she was so instrumental to the look and success of Stars on Ice. But I suspect from the description that it's the more utilitarian-sounding Choreography & Style for Ice Skaters, with which I'm not familiar. (Especially because the Bezic book doesn't have a yellow dust jacket as I recall.) Soundtracksonice, I'd still recommend the Bezic book because you'll get a lot of enjoyment and information out of it. One other that I'd recommend (speaking of yellow covers!) is Figure Skating for Dummies, which is by Kristi Yamaguchi (probably with a freelance writer helping out).

She talks about a lot of technical stuff for people who actually skate, not just for fans.

But really, Doris's suggestion of the Ricky Harris book sounds like the one you have been hunting.

Thanks, I actually own both of those, but they aren't the one I'm looking for. They are two of my favorites though. And thanks for those links - I'll definitely be checking them out.

The book had more in it than just choreography, but there were two chapters on it. I might have to haunt Amazon and see if I can find the cover.

I've no clue, but have you tried contacting the library. If it was in their collection once, perhaps they have a record of the title somewhere
