some thoughts on the ladies sp:
i thought hicks program actually was real good, she impressed me, liked the steps too bad about the jumps, but crazy lutz..!
lacoste was a mess, she really does that music no justice, kwan ownes the feeling begins..
zawadzki also problem with the jumps...
Gracie needs new programs...
overall not a strong sp competition, lets hope the ladies redeem themselfs for the free!

who are the commentators on icenetwork??

Icenetwork commentators are Tonia Kwiatkowski and Mike Mancuso.

When Max was skating his hair (which is quite long on top) was flopping around. At least that was how it looked to me, and I found it quite distracting.

Thx for the description, MF. Sorry to hear about flopping. Meanwhile, I forgot to note above that Max's hair looked pretty much the same at Champs Camp, and FWIW, the scrutiny of USFS officials there did not lead him to change it. Wish that I could see his SLC programs ...

ETA:
On second thought, what I should have said is, "Sorry to hear that the flopping was distracting." I don't want to assume that flopping curls are inherently distracting, or else Charlie White's floppy curls would have been generating tons of criticism over many years. ;)

Courtney's jumps are enormous, but I still can't get into her skating. Clunky, swingy, idk. Some nice moments but I think she just needs fast powerful music to show off her jumps so that's really all you notice.

Still 117+ is a great score. And she got 61+ in TES, so solid effort.

Did not think Courtney was 8 points better than Sam...I would have had her about the same, a few points ahead in TES a few points behind in PCS. Guess the judges think otherwise...

I like Amelie's FS. Very sophisticated. Too bad about the doubled-jumps. But she should be happy that she got the 3F.

96ish. She is behind Samantha.

Not the best skate for Agnes. A few doubled jumps and a fall on her money jump (3Z). It will be interesting how they will score this....101.02 or less would put her behind Samantha.

95 even and she's behind Samantha.

Love Agnes' dress and the program I think could be good, she looks in great shape, however the jumps not there tonight. She seemed kinda slow and tentative, makes sense with a new program, but I feel like she could easily get these jumps to work with a bit more speed and attack. She tends to skate better later in the season though, so not too concerning at this point.

Woah. That was not good. Nice 3Z-3T, then went downhill from there. Courtney might win this.

Power witches wear lacey pink dresses?? Who knew!

Maybe now I understand why Gracie ran to Frank...bit underwhelming event overall, ladies and men.

Well, her PCS were 5 points higher than Agnes and Sam, so I guess she HAS improved the 2nd mark. 58+ is pretty high for a program with lots of mistakes.

No amount of Shizuka Arakawa-type psychological attacks will help if you can't put it down yourself. Oh, Gracie. Let's hope she can get it together. I hate to see her so frustrated all the time after a competition.

I think she can.

Something interesting to note:
http://www.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2013/68594/results.html

It's interesting to look at the protocol RE: Gracie Gold. Basically what saved her, relatively speaking, was pretty high +GOE on the elements she did complete successfully:
+1.63 on 3Z-3T
+1.17 on a Level 4 flying Combo spin
+1.00 on her Level 3 step sequence
+1.00 on her level 3 combo spin
+1.40 on her spiral sequence
+1.17 on her level 4 layback.
===
7.37 GOE on those elements; +8.3 GOE overall. That's the highest in this competition.

This is why you can't write her off. Even in a near melt-down situation, she still managed to pull off a 3-3 and the highest + GOE in the competition.
