Obviously hit a nerve - interpret the statement how you will but no one can deny the standard in both pairs and dance has improved because of competition. The comment was not an attack on any individuals but a mere observation of the sport in Australia. You must be very close to the source to take it so personally?

I'm interpreting your statement exactly how you meant it which was nasty. To suggest that doors were opened for pair skaters without hard work because they were the only team is ignorant and just plain wrong. And you clearly made an attack on Paris and Matt saying that the reason Harley and Katia doubled their score a nationals is because they are not serious and don't train everyday.

And yeah, i am close with the family and i know all of them work very hard (some of the boys also having full-time jobs) while being surrounded by a bunch of nasty parents like you at Boondall ice rink.

Thanks Karne.

In other news, some of you kight know that Australia, and other Oceanic nations were invited to compete as a guest at the Asian Winter Games. We won't be able to win medals, but it will give our skaters a taster of what it is like to compete at a multi-sport games. Also, it's in Sapporo, Japan- every skater today wishes to compete in the home of figure skating.
OWIA released Australia's reps. Since we are only guests, its likely that we were only allowed to send one skater/couple per discipline.

Our reps are.
Men- Brendan Kerry
Ladies- Kailani Craine
Pairs- Paris Stephens and Matthew Dodds (good choice as it gives Harley/Katia a chance to train, and it gives these two one last chance to attain those scores)
Ice Dance- Mathilda Friend and William Badaoui (the fruits of having a lot more ice dance teams now will have to come soon)

Back on topic. Here is our team in Sapporo, Japan next February.

I would actually be pretty careful about accusing people of things especially when you have taken swipes at several young skaters on this forum. I would hate to think that a judge or technical specialist would be engaging in debate about young skaters or accusing their parents of things and then expect to sit on a technical panel without repercussions. I repeat what I said after nationals, all of these young people work very hard and it is extremely unsavoury for adults to be talking and comparing them. This behaviour is totally out of line and characteristic of the bullying that has caused many young people to leave the sport in QLD. Grow up!

I agree that all skaters work hard especially those who have made it to seniors and have been in the sport for a longer amount of time. But when members like Brookes1968 suggest that senior pair teams don't work hard and aren't serious about training, then I'm gonna call that person out.

P.s. I am a coach, not a ts or judge.

A new combo in the works for Brendan.

[For some reason, he deleted the post??]

It was a 3A+1Lo+3S Combo

Since Japan has just posted who they are sending to Four Continents, Junior Worlds and Worlds, I hope ISA announces their Four Continents and Junior World Team nominations soon.

There's still annual leave options for the next Olympics tho ;)

Oh yes. But I must do that with plenty of time.

Although last year I wound up lying on my couch sick as a dog during the dance competition. Much as I'd like to watch it, I'd rather not do that again.

In the end, everyone around the world have to adapt to different time zones etc for many sports and true fans will do their best to work around things :)

I wonder, will Ekaterina and Harley participate at JW and Worlds? I mean, the handicap between this competitions is very small. And moreover, Duskova/Bidar decided to not participate at Junior Worlds. Also Mishina/Mirzoev - Mirzoev got injury and WD from their Nationals. I allude to the fact that Katya and Harley can WIN Junior Worlds! :clapper: Or at least be it the top three! So I hope they will skate at JW anyway.
