Just realized that while Yu/Jin have been on the JGP for so long, they are actually younger than Tarasova/Morozov :p (these names are just awesome together)

third again for Z/R :disapp:, but they're still young
but its laughable they have almost the same PCS as Tarasova/Morosov, V/Z should score higher
V/Z have better FS programs too

overall the ranking is correct

Yes, but T&M only teamed up a little before last season. She has only been doing pairs for 3-4 years. She was a single skater before and even did pretty well in a JGP back in 08 or 09

Vigalova and Zakroev were my favorite team here by far.

Well, well done to Yu/Jin!! (A new edition of Pang/Tong 2006 POTO, with the yellow costumes!) And, I think that they were actually underscored: only +1.30 for the 3STH?! It was HUGE, if it had been one of the top pairs the GOEs would have been all +3s...
I agree that V/Z PCS should have been higher that T/M, their program was technically clean but very boring artistically and the choreography was nothing special (compared to V/Z)...

I also agree with the majority here that Maria/Egor had the best LP and should have got the best Choreography and Interpretation mark today. Maria grew since the last time we saw her but she still lands the jumps. It's so rare to see such a tiny, young pair skater being so consistent. Third place is so low for such 2 great skates. I think with their consistency and overall improvement (they skate with a bit more speed and personality than last year) they can pass Lina/Maxim (especially after what we saw at the open skates).
T/M have the best side by side jumps in the competitions but their programs are empty and they show 0 connection to the music. They skate nicely and that's about it. Their names are basically what it's exciting about this pair. Yu/Jin were ok I guess but I liked them better yesterday.
Overall 3 very good performances, better than the ones who got on the podium at the last Junior Worlds.

Vigalova/Zakroev have always been consistent, they ahve never fallen in an international competition other than a stumbles on their SBS jumps
that alone should get them higher PCS than Tarasova/Morosov, but their S/S are not there yet with Fedorova/Miroshkin who skate with better speed and better step seq

I really like V/Z but let's be honest, they're so consistent because they never attempt the harder jumps. Still, I enjoy them much more than T/M. I expected to see more improvement from T/M artistically since it's their second season together but they remain a poor man's version of V/T. Still, T/M deserve credit for going for two sets of triple jumps which Russian junior pairs often avoid and, not surprisingly, flop on the senior level.

Yu has got some skary jump technique, but she finally looks more grown-up. Honestly, I think they should be on SGP now. I know they need to improve artistically but they just look out of place here, Jin looks so much older than the other guys and their elements are strong enough to compete on the real GP, plus their lines and synchronicity have improved since last season. Sure, maybe they would not be winning a bunch of medals in seniors but they should compete there anyways, they would certainly be able to hold their own and with Sui/Han injured (and not as good IMO - save for the 4twist and 4sal), this pair could use the exposure.

I thought V/Z should have been 2nd. 2flip sure but everything they did was to a much higher standard and they were a lot more polished than T/M..

They actually tried the GP a couple of seasons ago (when they could compete in both Junior and Senior GPs), they were skating clean programs but placed just 6th and 7th because of LOW PCS despite the high TES (in Canada for example they received a 64 TES and a 44 PCS...), so I think that now they're waiting for V/T, S/S, K/S, P/T etc. to retire after Sochi...

Thanks, you are right. I forgot that pairs weren't allowed to do both JGP and GP anymore, otherwise I'm sure they would be doing both now. Yu/Jin have improved in the past couple of seasons, but the pairs field is really deep now so maybe by postponing their move to seniors until next season, they will be able to have more of an immediate impact due to all the retirees.
