Chloe Lewis and Logan Bye are making their JGP debut here. Chloe just turned 13 in June, and Logan was 15 in March. They were the 2013 US Novice Champions. At less than 1.5 points out of 3rd place, they did quite well in the SD.

They actually had the 3rd highest TES, but their PCS scores were pretty low....result of being complete unknowns?

No, more a result of their being very young and new to junior competition. They skate pretty far apart, for example.

I agree, but their PCS were in the 4s...I do agree they shouldn't get top caliber PCS, but 4s seems low. They do seem to have decent packaging.

But in Ice Dance, levels and tech are key, so it's good they're getting the tech side...

They looked a bit slow & far apart to me, which would give a hit in the PCS department. Being new to the circuit never helps, either.

The difference between Hawayek/Baker and Zdravkova/Aiken was 71 points. Nearly an entire second H/B free dance worth.

I don't know who thought up Edwards/Pang FD, but s/he should be fired. :p They're really talented dancers, and they executed their moves very well, but the program is a hot mess. Very disjointed, and there seemed to be no connection between the moves and the Les Mis mishmash it was set to.

I really liked Hawayek/Brubaker's FD, though. It seemed really well thought out, flowed well and they skated it really well. Hope they can bring up the levels as the season goes on.

It's Hawayek / BAKER! Jean Luc Baker is to die for, and Kaitlin is very good, but right now he's still clearly the better dancer. As they've been together not quite two years, they should continue to improve as a pair.

They skate in Dansk in two weeks. They're facing Russia #1, so they need to work hard on their levels. But any medal in Poland would clinch their spot in the JGPF.

H/B: :love: their program was just wonderful, artistically, very mature and well-choreographed! (their PCS should have been A LOT higher!)
E/P: brilliant program, technically, and with a lot of difficult transitions in and out of all the elements, that weren't really rewarded for me
sad for S/F finishing 4th, but it was correct, the Russians were a lot better...

H/B have fine potential. Baker is a strong dancer. Like their FD. Also like the Canadians and think they are talented. Their FD music cuts are awful, however.

So many unfortunate cuts of Les Miz. Guess we should get used to it.
