I know what you mean Maxi--I've been singing The Most Wonderful Time of the Year in my head all day!

Interesting order--do they know something we don't??? Hmmm......

The order is by world ranking. Due to Jason's successful junior results, he has racked up a lot of ranking points. Max did senior B's but that doesn't add up to as much.

To think 10 skaters competing at one GP event was bad enough. This is a travesty.

Agreed with Moment. The last minute decisions to withdraw only penalize the field, and they happen EVERY season, so why not start with 12? More potential entries, and less of a travesty when/if skaters withdraw

Thank you--I didn't know that. But that is still interesting, that he would come into the season ranking so relatively highly.

The suggestion of 12 skaters is a very good one. But then I'm greedy and would be happy if they went with 122 skaters. :)

nobody seems to care about the fans who have bought tickets or paid for online viewing - With Detroit being easy to get to from the East Coast ( at least ) and Toronto with all its skaters being driving distance there is no excuse in the world not to fill the gaps caused by withdrawals . Even if they couldnt get the next highest ranked skater I am sure the audience would appreciate whoever they could get and it might give some young skater a great opportunity. Why , o why cant people think " out of the box" in the world of skating officialdom? I agree with Moment - this is a travesty indeed.

Amano, AFAIR, is a very strict caller

This is exactly why many skaters spend a bit longer in juniors these days-they want to start seniors with ranking points.

ITA. There are always deserving skaters who get 0 or 1 spots. I never understood why the JGP events have so many skaters but the regular GP cannot. IIRC the host federations pay the skaters' expenses, but even so maybe they can have a second tier of athletes who at least get invited provided they can cover their own expenses.

Thanks, Icenetwork. I'm so glad I shelled out all the money for freezing video and no sound. My favorite way to watch figure skating...
