Davis and White are so good that it almost doesn't matter what they skate to, but...:slink:

I thought the old standards chosen by most of the earlier couples suited the quickstep better. I had a hard time catching the rhythm and beat of the Could Have Danced All Night parts of Meryl and Charlie's routine. (Get me to the church on time was fine.)

Woah, Davis and White and Cappellini and Lanotte got level 4s on BOTH finnstep sequences!

Oh wait C/L got Level 4s on EVERYTHING. Wow! That's how you do it folks.

Wow at that GOE for D&W --

The Shibs actually had a lower BV than Hubbell and Donahue due to getting level 2s on Finnstep (H/D got level 3/4) but made up for it in the +GOE. (3.80 vs. 2.79).

Tobias and Stagniunas had a level 4 in one Finnstep but then only a level 1 in the other....hm....

Wow, other than a level 3 on the non touching midline step sequence, perfect levels and all GOE 2s and 3s for D/W.

Agreed. I'd enjoy watching them skate to anything.

But the My Fair Lady orchestrations and vocals are simply weak. Doesn't have the punch it needs.

Really liked C/L costumes.

And gotta give some love to the Shibs. They seem back on track. And Alex looked so handsome and lean and tall (5'10")

Hey, look. Cappellini/Lanotte beat Davis and White in something! And wow, the Shibs had really low Finnstep scores and still managed to eek out the lead over Hubbell/Donohue.

Wow I agree...that was a fun event! Watched it on Icenetwork and thought Tanith did a great job explaining the Finnstep.

Meryl and Charlie as always blew the competition away with their skill and lightning fast speed. I absolutely love that program! The Shibs were enjoyable too...can't take my eyes off Alex. C/L skated really well but I've never been a big fan of theirs for some reason.

Liked the entire top 4. D/W looked even better than at SLC (but maybe too fast, skating through the music?), C/L also looked strong. Shibs struggled with the pattern dance as did H/D. This pattern looks mighty challenging. Those performing it for the first time will be hard pressed to do it well. Nonetheless from the snippets i saw of the Shibs looking forward to the FD.

C/L really gunning for that bronze medal early. Lets see how B/S respond in Minsk.

I would really be overjoyed to see Anna & Luca win an Olympic medal in Sochi and then go on to medal at Worlds. I am really hoping for their good fortune!

Yeah, I wouldn't mind if Davis/White went back to their normal speediness so I could enjoy all the pretty things about the program (which is really good IMO, I love it!) a bit more. But lol, look at this from an IceNetwork article published today:

When Meryl Davis and Charlie White unveiled their Scheherazade free dance at the U.S. International Figure Skating Classic in Salt Lake City last month, they liked what they did. Their coach, Marina Zoueva, was happy. The judges were impressed. They also had a few suggestions. One might come as a surprise.

"The judges' biggest comment was they needed more speed," Zoueva said with a shrug.

Weird, right? So I guess that's why this was faster than SLC? I mean, maybe the advice was particular to Scheherazade but if they've been working on their speed...

The Italians look like early contenders for silver from what I have seen so far this season.. Technically much stronger than V/M... maybe even technically stronger than D/W? It's really close, but I think if they skate a short dance like that, they should be at least in second based on the content in programs seen so far this year.
