Protocols look right. Wow, Mao got under-rotation on 3-axel! And no 3-3, and she still broke her PB!

Only some of the judges deducted for the cheats (actually it looks like on second flip and the loop a lot might have given the amount of 0s she got). But then, judges usually don't notice underrotations unless the technical panel flag them, so everything that is under 1/4 usually gets a free pass. Bleh.

Why do the judges give almost the same score for everything in PCS???

I actually enjoyed Mirai. But for her mistakessss...=( Gracie's skating is growing on me. But where are her jumps?? Her fp is good. I like it. Dunno why some people say it's bad choreographed (sorry for spelling if incorrect^^).
Mao was beautiful as always and Eelena.. Well, I begin to like her fp as well :)

Mao is through to GPF

in contention
Radionova
Suzuki

Wagner - needs at least silver or gold
Sotnikova - needs another silver or gold
Pogorilaya - all she needs is bronze ?
Lipnitskaya - any color medal will do
Kostner - needs silver with 190+ or gold
Tuktamisheva - need to win gold in her next GP wit 190+ ?

if Sotnikova gets silver, Carolina wins or silver 190+ Wagner gets gold and Pogorilaya gets at least bronze
Suzuki is out of GPF ?

Me neither. There's a fair amount of transitions and constant upper body movement throughout. There is variety in her movements and there is light and shade.

It looked like a number of Asada's jumps were cheated.

Mao's double loops didn't get underrotated this time :rolleye:Same technical panel from short program. :rolleye:

Gold only smiling after her jumps completed. Her PCS dropped 62 to 60 while Asada and Radionova raising them.

Even if Radionova's PCS was higher, she had a lot of ground to cover.

PROTOCOL: http://www.isuresults.com/results/gpjpn2013/gpjpn2013_Ladies_FS_Scores.pdf take a bloody look.

If your assessment came with a supported argument instead of blasting out idiotic comments based on bubbles, you would sound like you have a better understanding of the sport.

No point. I don't see how anyone watching this competition can say Elena deserved to win. Technically she was impressive. But skating skills, spins, presentation, Mao is above her by a lot. And some people forget Mao was many points ahead in the short.

And the people complaining about scores look at the protocols and her technical difficulty.

It's probably the music cut- or rather that's what puts me off. She's improving, especially since any piece from Tchaikovsky is hard to skate to (or watch) if the lady skater isn't at all balletic of graceful. Frank seems to have softened her a little bit more.

Well, you see, it's like this. It was the same technical panel, but they were judging different jump attempts. Yesterday, they called her short program attempt under-rotation, and today, they didn't call her free program attempt an under-rotation, because they weren't. I could tell she didn't under-rotate it while I watched it. I guess the tech panel thought the same.

I'm getting so angry of the PCS boost for Asada and of the Japanese inflation for Asada at NHK

Seriously, why Asada have always inflated score at NHK trophy ? At each year, she doesn't deserve the title. Last year Suzuki should have win the event and this year Radionova should have win, shame on you Asada!!
Shame on Asada? Why? Even if you think she is overscored - did she judge herself? Did she assign herself to NHK? Shame on you for blaming a skater who didn't do anything except skate the best she could.

I thought Asada was scored pretty much correctly this time. Actually, the ladies' scoring for the most part made sense to me (other than some reputation scoring in the PCS of the lower finishers). Radionova and Asada both did very well, and it's clear that there are qualities to Asada's skating that Radionova has not yet developed.

I do not think Mao is overscored. Her skating has a light, beautiful quality that is beyond compare. Also: Midori Ito was over THIRTY years ago. It has been over THIRTY years since a woman did a triple Axel. The men have moved on to quads, but the women? Kristy Yamaguchi's 92 program would still win the Olympics.

IOW: Mao has moved women's figure skating forward. She attempts that triple axel in every single competition, and she is being rewarded for that.

Even if you dismiss that, her skating skills are on a whole 'nother level.

Radionova >>>> Julia in PCS
The only thing Julia is better at is her spins tbh.

Radionova raised her PCS from 58.9 to 61.7. We will see Lipnitskaia's PCS for her next event. First one 60.88.

Radionova's PCS higher than Sotnikova too. Clean skates really helps her.

Mao is overscored. She gets credit for way too many cheated triples. It’s clear that technical specialists have been instructed to overlook her URs. She is getting an unfair advantage over her competitors by getting credit for her cheated jumps (including her "3A," which is badly pre-rotated on the take off and cheated on landing and in no way compares to Midori's or men's 3As.) The judges should give her credit for her skating skills, spins, and steps, but they need to stop pretending that she is a good jumper. Her jumps are very poor quality and almost never fully rotated.

Elena is a joy to watch. She loves to skate and it shows. She is such a fighter, too. But, like Julia, I feel that her consistency and jumps could vanish when puberty changes her frame.

Gracie is such a headcase. I love how her delusional fans keep promoting her as a darkhorse contender for a medal in Sochi. Never mind that she doesn’t have the PCS or TES to be competitive. Her jumping ability has declined to the point where she is lucky to land 3 clean triples in her free skates. No 3Lz-3T or 2A-3T. Her technical ability is nonexistent.

Mirai’s best days are well behind her. I don’t see her ever making the US World or Olympic team again. She simply cannot rotate her jumps. Her jumps are so badly cheated that technical specialists don’t even have to review them in the slow motion replay. Her frame just isn’t conducive to rotating triple jumps, imo.
