Shame on Asada? Why? Even if you think she is overscored - did she judge herself? Did she assign herself to NHK? Shame on you for blaming a skater who didn't do anything except skate the best she could.

I thought Asada was scored pretty much correctly this time. Actually, the ladies' scoring for the most part made sense to me (other than some reputation scoring in the PCS of the lower finishers). Radionova and Asada both did very well, and it's clear that there are qualities to Asada's skating that Radionova has not yet developed.

Agreed, and well stated as always, Buttercup! :) Mao did deserve the NHK Trophy this season. Last season's judging, however, was a travesty and the title should have gone to Suzuki. I'm glad to see that this season Mao's skating actually warranted the 1st place.

People who think elena should beat Mao for what they did at NHK are all added to my ignored list. They showed a fundamental misunderstanding of figure skating and anything else they will say in the future will just lead to more unnecessary arguments. I recuse myself. :)

I definitely feel like Asada was lucky on some of those UR calls, and a stricter panel would have given more <.

Nonetheless, I thought she deliverede at strong performance with nice attack, and her gold medal is not contested in my mind. Hopefully she knows she still needs to clean up those landings for the Olympics. But it's nice to see get a strong start to the season, compared to the last Olympics. Hopefully this means that she can skate even better at the Olys and not, that she is peaking too early.

Mao is overscored. She gets credit for way too many cheated triples. It’s clear that technical specialists have been instructed to overlook her URs. She is getting an unfair advantage over her competitors by getting credit for her cheated jumps (including her "3A," which is badly pre-rotated on the take off and cheated on landing and in no way compares to Midori's or men's 3As.) The judges should give her credit for her skating skills, spins, and steps, but they need to stop pretending that she is a good jumper. Her jumps are very poor quality and almost never fully rotated.

Elena is a joy to watch. She loves to skate and it shows. She is such a fighter, too. But, like Julia, I feel that her consistency and jumps could vanish when puberty changes her frame.

Gracie is such a headcase. I love how her delusional fans keep promoting her as a darkhorse contender for a medal in Sochi. Never mind that she doesn’t have the PCS or TES to be competitive. Her jumping ability has declined to the point where she is lucky to land 3 clean triples in her free skates. No 3Lz-3T or 2A-3T. Her technical ability is nonexistent.

Mirai’s best days are well behind her. I don’t see her ever making the US World or Olympic team again. She simply cannot rotate her jumps. Her jumps are so badly cheated that technical specialists don’t even have to review them in the slow motion replay. Her frame just isn’t conducive to rotating triple jumps, imo.

Oh my how negative. Nobody seems to have a good future in your view.

This NHK Trophy was Asada's and Suzuki's last international competition on Japan ice, correct? These two champions are definitely going to be missed by the skating world! What wonderful memories they have provided us over the years! Hopefully, they both have two terrific performances to cherish on Olympic ice in Sochi!:yay:

ok. whatever @ Mirai's her performance.

Please give me more Mirai personality. I'm happy today because she looks happy on the ice :))))

YEP!!! Amen. And the Japanese audience is AWESUMMMMMM!!!! She didn't do her best, but how wonderful to have an audience like this one appreciate what you are doing! Too bad Mirai, but I think she did find some joy in that. I did at least.

Incorrect (fortunately for Japanese fans ;)).
The GP Final in December also will be in Japan. In Fukuoka, to be specific.

Mao's FS score today of 136.33 is a personal best, as is her combined score of 207.59

The Olympic technical panel is the most lenient of all. Both Torino and Vancouver. Their best interest is not to alienate ordinary folks who watch figure skating once in four years and never read anything like "protocols".

Again, Valentina super underscored. I just don't get it. Her PC's score very very low.

Even the British Eurosport guys said she is an actress on ice. Also, the TES, when she finished the performence was about 52-53 points. But, the judges decided to be harsh and gave her 48 of TES. I really do not understand how Gracie got 55 of TES with 2(yes, two) clean triples.

She also had the best landed solo jump in the competition(and one of the best I have ever seen). Her first triple lutz was perfection. That really deserved +2 or even +3. And, not only the first lutz was beautiful, but the solo salchow was also perfect and had a great execution. The landing of the solo salchow was so solid and precise.

Alena and Akiko were also underscored(the TES, I mean)

Let's see(I am seeing the triples):

-Gracie

Number of triples landed: 3
Clean triples: 2 (one flip and one loop)
Wrong edge: 1
Number of double axels: 2
Number of falls: 1

-Valentina

Number of triples landed: 4
Clean triples: 3(one lutz and two salchows)
UR call: 1
Number of double axels: 2
Number of falls: 0

Leonova

Number of triples landed: 6
Clean triples: 3(two flips and one salchow)
UR call: 1
Wrong edge: 1
Poor landing: 1
Number of double axels: 0
Number of falls: 0

Akiko

Number of triples landed: 5
Clean triples: 3(one flip, one toeloop and one salchow)
UR call: 1
Wrong edge: 1
Average(not perfect) landing: 1(flip)
Number of double axels: 0
Number of falls: 1

And, talking about PC's...

I do not understand also...

Radionova and Gracie getting higher PC's than Valentina or Alena?

Ok, Alena's program is kinda crappy, but she feels the music and there is some nice choreography there. And Valentina is great at artistic part. I am blown away. So intense and mature. The british eurosport guy was speechless.

Gracie and Radionova have very "juniorish" programs and really do not feel the music... Just jump, jump, jump and jump.

During the medal ceremony, Mao seemed very sad-(or: overcome with emotion) I wonder if she was thinking of her mother.? Whatever it was, I found myself crying...I really hope she wins Olympic gold....I hope this is her year.

I think are too nit-piking on Mao's 3A. I looked at the replay of Takahashi's LP, it seems that Mao's rotation on her 3A was better than Takahashi's and Mao got a < but Dai got no ur call. I think Dai got very lenient treatment in the event. but I love his LP this time, what a skate!

So happy for Oda!!! I hope he can make the GPF and the olympic team!

Mao skated so beautifully! She is getting better and better. I'm officially rooting for her for the OGM now. She has everything to be there.
