That's actually really cool! I had never heard this. Thanks! :)

glad you enjoyed it. look up the piano guys on youtube - they have some FANTASTIC arrangements of current hits... absolutely beautiful. I'm hoping I can see them when they're here in a month.

Another song that I would love to see as an exhibition (again for Ashley... it just seems like the lyrics would suit her) is from Disney's Frozen (the music is amazing) and it's the main track from the movie: "Let It Go" - http://youtu.be/moSFlvxnbgk

Loved the Piano Guys, they really do have several fantastic arrangements.
Since comparing different arrangements to Pachelbel's Canon in D, I'm happy to have found the music Carolina Kostner skated to in 2003 (without the US commentators!), imo the best arrangement for FS!

That yt guy uploads/arranges a lot of FS program musics, incl. this captivating favorite of mine in Ice Dance: it's from Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, a future great pair of France who just missed qualifying for Sochi - their FD music is still awesome:

There's even Jeremy Abbott's Lillies of the Valley(Pina) SP arrangement!

OK, I'm not sure where to ask this question, but hopefully there will be someone here who can help:
Does anyone know what the music is you can hear at 14:40 here? With the opera singer's voice (sounds a bit like the voices in "Flower Duet" by Leo Delibes) and instrumental beats? (right after the medal ceremony)
If you don't know, but know of a better thread to ask this question, let me know...
thanks!

-EDIT: I got the answer: Aria by Yanni -Thanks ozmodiar :)

I could totally see Ashley Wagner skate to The Piano Guy's "Rockelbel's Canon (Pachelbel's Canon in D) - 4 Cellos"... it gives her both that "classic skating song" but the power and fire that is perfect for her... not sure if it'd work for a competitive program so much... but I think it could!

http://youtu.be/LV5_xj_yuhs (ignore the cheesey "music video" the music is awesome)

Actually, Kelsey Wong (a Canadian Junior Lady) is using this piece for her Short this season.

For soft and lyrical music:
Poeme from Songs a secret garden- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkufuvmquYQ
Il etait une fois le diable by Ennio Morricone. Joannie Rochette skated to this in 2002/03 and 2003/04. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DV0QasRIg_4 Perfect music for her, it's soft and lyrical but also powerful, just like Joannie's skating.
Une Ange passe by Alain Lefevbre, Kimmie Meissner skated to it in 2008-09. It's soft and lyrical but uplifting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPfpLi34UE0

For more upbeat music
Anything by the piano guys. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXOd5lSObUM
I generally liked Tara Lipinski's music because it was always age appropriate, youthful and free but not too juniorish.
I like Kevin Reynolds's SP,

I like the idea of video game music, there aresome great orchestrations out there.

Next year, when they're able to skate to music with lyrics, I hope we see more people skating to traditional opera arias. Such as:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJJW0dE5GF0 (Mozart, Queen of the Night Aria from The Magic Flute)

I've also long wanted someone to skate to the soundtrack from A Little Princess, my favorite movie as a child: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZV3O7CfnUA&list=PLTRfvotrnlCF8FcNA45Y5ioTXpUvGoJEO

Another soundtrack I see a lot of potential in is from the 2004 miniseries North and South: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeH8st9ZBCE&list=PLlRfiKC_vYaCstwn_ZWvn3BwPpBZLgsYZ

Your wish has been answered by Surya Bonaly 18 years ago :)

You know, when I posted that, I had this feeling in the back of my mind, I think someone may have done that when the movie was new. But I couldn't remember who. Oh, Surya! I actually appreciated some of Surya's qualities but let's just say I think the door is still wide open for someone to do a definitive Little Princess program! LOL

How about a guy skating to Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody?

And not some watered down instrumental version with violins. I'm talking full-on vocals.

Kevin Reynolds, I'm looking at you.:)

Love so many of these suggestions! Especially Game of Thrones - though it would have to be a crazy intense skater to live up to the intensity of the music.

On the soundtrack suggestion, I think the Lord of the Rings movies have some exceptional music that could be put together into a beautiful program.

Or music from Battlestar Galactica (which, in my opinion, had some of the best compositions ever for a TV show), especially their version of All Along the Watchtower.

This is an awesome thread for discovering great new music, thanks to everyone! :agree:

I spent quite some time discovering the Battlestar Galactica soundtrack and was really captivated by Violence And Variations, a beautiful score which I think has great potential for a FS music. The Shape Of Things To Come is a more condensed version with basically the same musical theme - just the right length for a SP as it stands! ;)

Gaetas Lament was simply ensorcelling. It needs a really intense pair to be up to the challenge, and maybe some musical arrangement to replace some of the slower start, but that's the kind of stuff I could see Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron skate to in the future... The way it gradually builds in intensity is just wow, and I could see them capture that.

Oh this is fun!

Has anybody mentioned music from the Downton Abbey soundtrack? I really love the opening theme.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRJ3_vEJE6g

I always loved the main theme music from the Van Helsing soundtrack. Very powerful and exciting music.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcyW94nRglQ

Final Fantasy VII soundtrack, Aerith's Theme. It's very quiet but the right person could pull it off as a very touching exhibition piece. I love all of Nobuo Uematsu's music.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxRIxovS7nQ

Homage to the Rabbits from the Cirque du Soleil Criss Angel show Believe. It's different and a little quirky but someone really creative could do something very unique with this.

I was thinking Downton Abbey soundtrack, the music there is nice.

Isn't Nobuo Uematsu the man behind Chrno trigger music?

Yep. :) He's probably the best composer when it comes to video game music.

To continue the Uematsu lovefest, I present Waterside from Blue Dragon. I also really love this remix of Roost Island (from Zelda Wind Waker) and I think it would make a fine piece of figure skating music.

Cool thread!

Totally second the suggestions regarding the soundtracks for Little Dorrit and North and South!!

*Michael Conway Baker's magnificent score for Dorothy Hamill's ice show in the 1990s, Cinderella: Frozen in Time. The Prince's Lament, Transformation, and Fairy Godmother are some tracks that I think could be used for a program.
*Talbot's ballet score of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (The Mad Hatter - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBPBqSudX18; The Flower Garden - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDJTsSxrIPM).
*Erich Wolfgang Korngold's The Adventures of Robin Hood soundtrack (Procession & Epilogue - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clWzjqTqPKo; Love Theme - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3Qd97qEgFw).
*James Newton Howard's Peter Pan (Fairy Dance - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQXaKw7dR3Y).
*Prokofiev's Eugene Onegin (Waltz - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXzhhB_NZUk).
*Tchaikovsky Symphony No.3 "Polish" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_4NPq6hyEY; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsosCfsJmkk).
*Nox Arcana's Labyrinth of Dreams (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfUGtfpYzCM).
*X-Ray Dog's The Vision (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kovYc9Llsvk).
*Strauss' Rosenkavalier Suite (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCmw-nriHIA).
*Respighi's Pini di Roma (Part IV - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCRsUknWcM8).
*Fauré's Shylock (Épithalame - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWC8O1w_YLg).
