If the age limit lowers to 19, then they only have one more year of eligibility because Quinn will turn 18 in the middle of this season and 19 in the middle of next season. Therefore, he'll be 19 before the 2015-2016 starts and they must go Senior at that point. At least Lorraine will be age eligible for Senior international competitions at that point so they can get some Senior B's if not GP events.

Parsons/Parsons also would only have one more year. Michael will be 19 in October, so 2014-2015 is their last year of Junior.

Mozgov turns 19 in March, so Yankovskaia/Mozgov are senior next year with the rule change. Baker is already 20, so Hawayek/Baker also are senior. Vlaskenko just turned 19, and Nikitin did in May.

So only McNamara/Carpenter of these 6 teams could compete Junior internationally next season. Huh. Wonder if any of the others will manage GP spots next year.

Isn't there still a guaranteed single GP place for Junior World medallists? If so, Y&M and H&B definitely have a shot at one.

Im glad they have lowered the age max for Ice Dance
we've seen too many juniors with ladies in their 17s and men in their 19s
is it because Ice Dance has a high regard for pecking order and need maturity for seniors ?

McNamara/Carpenter should easily dominate next season in juniors :)
2018 OGM I can already smell

It's more so that the couple can have long enough to develop as juniors while the boy is big enough to lift the girl.

It's tricky when the boy is same age/younger than the girl-works out sometimes-consider Davis & White.

Thank you all for your responses-
Here's another question- if the age for the men lowers, how do you think each of these teams moving up will do at the SR level? Who do you think might have trouble transitioning to the SR ranks?

The teams moving up in countries where there is no real ice dance elite team, or the nation's number one team is about to retire have the best chance. For example with P&B known to be retiring this year, Papadakis & Cizeron, who went senior this year, have a good chance to do well. Plus they have awesome programs :)

At this event, the team perhaps most likely to stick around is the 5th place couple, Nazarova & Nikitin of Ukraine.

Both H&B and M&C have a reasonable shot, provided they don't grow at too different rates. D&W won't be around forever, and both teams are excellent. But it's still crowded in the US with C&B, S&S, H&D, and Aldridge & Eaton.

Yanovskaia & Mozgov? Good skaters, but it's even trickier for them. Russia has I&K and B&S who will not be retiring any time soon. Plus they have R&T, who have been kind of the perennial 3rd place team. And you have Sinitsina & Zhiganshin, Stepanova & Bukin, and Monko & Khaliavin, all of whom have won Jr. Worlds. It's hard to make a real splash with that kind of competition.
