Zelenka bombing his SP and not qualifying to the FS was what I was referring to. I remember clapping to congratulate the Italian Fed whilst I was watching his SP.
Who else should they have sent instead? He was the Italian Champion for 4 years in a row at that time, and by far the best skater they had at their disposal. Bacchini was second all those years, and he was nowhere near the same league as Zelenka.

Problems on the triple axel and some other problems. He seems a bit disappointed.

Lovely basics and character from Walker.

The level has been extremely high so far, Cieplucha will have to skate clean to place top 20. :/

Ok, I get it now. I remembered Torino but what it in fact was, was 2005 European Championships testing the venue before the Olympics. Bacchini was 32nd in the SP totally bombing.

lol: Walker and Cieplucha have completely opposite musics, but pretty much the exact same costumes!

Two falls and no triple axel. The other triples had good height and neat landings, the best quality so far, I think. Shame about zayak mistake

Damn. Cieplucha's choreography and expression were lovely (although his posture is still very poor) and he skated with decent flow. His presentation has improved a lot. Such a shame about the silly mistakes on the salchow and loop at the end. :(

I loved how Walker connected to his program musically. He seemed to skate with unreserved joy, even if the jumps were not perfect.

I feel like this is the Grand Prix Eurovision de la chanson ;)
Too bad he had an off-day, he got so consistent over the years!

Walker was really undermarked on PCS in both SP and FS. His basics are good, his movements were refined and reflected the character of the music.

Lucine's program was fun again but his basics are very poor. Shallow edges, lack of speed, absolutely appalling posture.

I'll probably blow a gasket upon seeing his marks. :p

Interesting: Weiss is saying that it's planned for the future for commentators to be allowed to listen in to the 3 Technical Specialist's discussions, and that those discussions can even be published.

Lucine is not a refined skater, so he plays the fun card. At least he's doing his own thing and enjoying it, instead of skating to Albinoni's Adagio, putting on a "constipated angel" look and resulting boring and forgettable as well as unpolished.
