One of the best reasons to have qualifying rounds at Canadian Nationals is to see unusual skaters like Alexandre Hamel, a 20-year-old from Quebec whose choreography is in the offbeat mold of a Dan Hollander or a Gary Beacom.

Thanks for this article! I always enjoy learning about other skaters that I never get a chance to see. There is a lot of talent out there. I wish the tv broadcasts could show some of the highlights of lesser known skaters.
