Would have loved to see someone who has a shot at Olympics Gold skate last. This is why i don't like the Olympics skating order. so random

Mirai skated last in Vancouver, remember? She wasn't a gold medal contender, but her performance was definitely memorable to me.

Ugh I forgot I have a seminar from 12:40 until 1:40 (est) so I'll miss most of the last two groups

Anyway, the NYT has a cool graphic of the planned jump content for the final group:

Funny looking graphic, thanks for the link!
They didn't get everything right though, since they stated that Chan has 4T2T planned in the beginning, and no 3T at all in the program. He'll def try to do a 4T3T as always.
Same for Peter Liebers who'll try to put a 3T at the end of his 1st 3A, not just a 2T.

.
It looks like they're just taking the accomplished content from a single competition - Chan and Hanyu's from GPF 2013, Javier from Euros 2014, etc.

It looks like they selected the last major competition skated by each of the 6 men.

Yeah, I realize that after looking at it closer. But I admire the NYT for doing it.

.
Certainly an unusual graphic. I don't think I've ever seen a program layout graphed/displayed in such a way before.

Interesting how they used shading/colour, size and relative height to indicate jump difficulty - e.g. the quad 'circles' are darker (colour), higher, and larger vs. the triples vs. the doubles vs. the single jumps. Even within the set of triple jumps, it looks like the 'circles' decrease in size as you move from Axel, to lutz, to flip, to loop, to salchow, to toe loop.

I wonder if the designer based the graphic on a general knowledge of skating, or if they used the Scale of Value (SOV) Chart and based the size of the 'circles' on the relative point values assigned to each jump? If the latter, they definitely deserve a gold star for research!!

:points:

I hate the skating order, I agree that excitement wise, reverse order would be the best.

THE Anett Poetzsch is the tech specialist?

Funny anecdote from the german stream (between a lot of bla, they sometimes add very interesting infos). Katarina Witt sometimes visits the commentator booth and talked about how she talked to Anett Poetzsch, who really has to work hard, because she does get lost in the performances (as a fan), to concentrate on her job as a technical specialist. I thought that was very cute.

Interesting for Yuzuru Hanyu that he is doing a 3A+2A sequence instead of 3A+2T that he did in GPFinal.
(base value; second half of program)
3A + 2A sequence = [8.5+3.3] x 0.9 x 1.1 = 11.68
3A + 2T = [8.5 + 1.3] x 1.1 = 10.78

Very interesting. Can't wait to see that.

Is anyone going to sticky this? It's less than 2 hours until the start of the FS!

If Jeremy tries to go for another quad in the LP, I don't think I'll be able to watch.

At this point, he should just attempt a quadless LP like he used to back in the day:

3Lutz
3Axel+2toe
3flip
x2Axel
x3Axel
x3Lutz+3toe+2toe
x3Salchow+2toe
x3loop

Interesting layout.

I just want Jeremy to leave it all on the ice today, quad or no quad.

I have a hard time believing that 2 quads and 6 triples is Chan's real layout. I think the planned 3flip+2toe towards the end of the program will become 3flip+3toe depending on Hanyu's performance and scores.

I had to write this, cause thus us my lucky day! I don't know if anyone is in Sochi but i have one ticket for the men to give for free! On my way to Oly train I met two girls, fr Serbia and Mexico who were here for Plush, I know it doesn't sound good but the Serbian girl won't be going and gave me her A category for free (!!! Imagine my reaction) so I wish someone is here and wants to see men's free on my seat!!!
I m flying!!

Then he is going to lose his olympic medal because he is already repeating 4T and 3lutz. He can't repeat 3T too. Hanyu has two different quads because of this rule.

That's so cool for you seniorita. So Plush not competing has at least a small positive effect for you!

I hope Hanyu makes his 4S.

If Chan goes clean like the GPF and Hanyu falls again on his 4S but still wins, I'm going to have a lot of explaining to do for my coworkers and friends. :p

yes but his intendend plan has a 4toe+ 3toe...

Yes, that is what he has been planning all season up to this point. I'm not sure why this article is claiming otherwise unless it's a mistake or they have some inside info from Chan's team. Doing the 3toe later in the program after the 3flip would net him more points if he were able to pull it off.
