Failing that you can type 浅田真央 in the search box so it hits more than typing it in English.
The subtitles are in Japanese so I'm not sure how much you'd enjoy these unless you can read Japanese. Enjoy!!

Ah, nicovideo? Thanks. I'd been longing to hear TAT sobbing in the booth. And I can make nothing of anything not kanji in the subtitles but I wouldn't need it for the Italian, Chinese, or the Russian at least.

This is a translated excerpt of posts in 2channel, a very famous anonymous message board in Japan. The selection basically centers on 2channel posters commenting on famous people who wrote on twitter and such about Mao's performance:

http://majide2ch.blogspot.jp/2014/02/everyone-who-cried-before-mao-asada-did.html

Everyone cried.

BTW:

Asashoryu is a very famous retired sumo wrestler from Mongol
FIFI_Egypt is an Egyptian who works in Japan as a television personality and can speak Japanese
Matsuoka Shuzo is a former professional tennis player who nows works as a sports commentator, and is known for a very demonstrative style of cheering for athletes (like Tat)

Seeing/Hearing Rachmaninoffs Piano Concert in the Closing Ceremony - I saw Mao in my head skating without boundaries again! I know I should just enjoy the beautiful skate, but it still annoys me that she only got 142,71 for it.

mao is an icon of figure skating and has done so much to boost the sport's popularity she deserved to have her most spectacular performance judged as such. i thought she should have won the freeskate with a score rivaling yuna's in vancouver. i know in the months and years to come, her performance would be one i would watch over and over again on youtube.

Hikki, thanks so much for the translation. The interview reveals so much about not only Mao but also Shizuka, always one of my favorite skaters, and YuNa. Can you imagine how she'll be greeted on her return to Japan?

I hope she has a dream Worlds. But for now, she should just rest for a few days and savor the memory of what she created.

mao's history-making fs is now on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjpnsqJQGu4 1st half shows her short from vancouver and then the long from sochi.

Watching her Vancouver and Sochi skating back to back made me see just how much smoother and more powerful Mao's skating is now compared to four years ago. At Vancouver, her strokes are floaty and light, and her skating has a ethereal quality to it, which I still love. At Vancouver, though, the floaty softness has been replaced by powerful smoothness and each stroke just vvrrrmmms across the ice.

s I mentioned in other thread, Mao moved me to tears midway of her LP. She definitely deserved the top score of LP in the Olympics, history making 8 triples , beautifully woven into the program that was skated to perfection. hands down the best of the night!

Sonia Bianchetti Garbato paid this beautiful tribute to Mao:

The 2014 Olympic Games
by Sonia Bianchetti Garbato

"I want to pay tribute to Mao Asada of Japan. She has proven to be a real champion, able to overcome her great sorrow after her appalling short program and come back and execute a fantastic free program, technically very strong, even with a successful triple Axel, and very emotional and captivating. Thank you, Mao, for all you did for our sport and for the joys you gave to all your millions of skating fans."

Haha how cool you can understand those languages. I personally loved the passionate Italians (they were so angry at the marks!!) and the gentle Chinese who showed so much respect for Mao.

You're very welcome, Olympia. Re: Worlds, I almost want her to just retire now and rest! Then create a vibrant pro circuit with Yuna, Caro etc!

While I don't agree with Ms. Bianchetti on everything, I share her sentiment for Mao. What a journey she has had as a skater. True hero.

(I still can't get over her costumes, though.. Does Mao pick her own costumes? )

Edit: Gosh, watching Mao's SP in Vancouver again makes me re-live that moment. I had a goose bump with that performance. Good times.. Unlike this mess that is Sochi.

By the way, Mao said today she is only 50/50 on retirement. She will probably do what Yuna did past quad, and maybe give another shot in 2018, it seems.

Her comments about the former prime minister were funny.

""I think maybe he regrets his comments a bit."

One small thing that I really like about Mao's (and Yuna's) skating is that they seem to know the size of the rink like it's part of her body. Other skaters, often I see, check and measure the distance before they skate around. Mao just knows by her stroking. She need not look ahead or look back not to hit the billboards. She lives and breathes the ice. So natural, so light.

And her musicality is second to none, though I do take issue with the choice of her music sometimes.

Mao, apart from her gorgeous skating, light as a batterfly, her athletic abilities, her guts for the triple axel, for me she is a real inspiration for what a human can achieve and the hightlight of highlights of these Olys for me.

Mao went to the Foreign Correspondents' Club in Tokyo straight after arriving back in Japan to take questions from the media:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFPotnkB8jU

Her comments about Mori were really funny. She basically objected to his comments, but in such a sweet, sweet way that Mr. Mori, upon watching this interview, will probably just hang his swollen old head in shame like a little boy.

Mao is looking as free and joyful as she used to look when she was 15-years-old! Luv her!!

I loved when she said she wanted to be the sucessor of her idol Midori Ito. Awwwwwwwww.
