Nam was a nice surprise.
Shoma was really great.

It's just my opinion but I think Nam and Shoma were the only two who skated to the music as if the music meant something rather than just a background to the steps and jumps.

Boyang Jin's speed was great too.

very impressed by Shoma, rightfully given the highest components out of all the skaters. I also enjoyed He Zhang and Keiji, and Nam! Nam did well. So many personal bests today, looking forward to the free on Saturday.

Shoma is an absolute joy to watch. Love how he really uses the music, and his carriage across the ice.
He is very into his music. And his footwork is very amazing. Chen did pretty well in the past but not today. He seems out of his elements somehow. I guess his trouble with 3A might distracted him a whole lot.

thank you!!! If Shoma can get a 3a down in the future he can be a major contender.

The free will definitely be interesting. Personally hoping Nathan can pull up a few places

Quick TES breakdown:

Nam: 40.66
Boyang: 39.64
Chen: 39.20
Moeller: 38.44
Petrov: 38.41
Keiji 37.96
Pitkeev: 37.04
Shoma: 37.02
He: 35.51
Ignatenko: 35.00
Coufal: 34.67

Wow, Jordan Moeller is 4th in TES! It's really too bad he went early, cause I think his PCS scores could have been a bit higher.

Loved Shoma! Also agree that Jordan would probably have been a bit higher if he hadn't skated so early. Heartbroken for Shotaro :(

Overall a great competition!

Chen wiped the ice with his butt. Petrov did not. The music was horrible, but he did move well.

Petrov does seem to have much better skating skills than Gachinski and Plushenko at this age despite being Mishin's student.

Let´s talk about the future. Who will be the next champ?. Adian Pitkeev?

My money's on Boyang Jin. He has a crazy FS with three quads and a backload that includes a 3A and a 3F-1L-3S combo.
