How important are wins to popularity of US skating?

Judging drama is definitely boring for an audience but I don't think they're necessarily looking for "good" drama either. FS became popular in the 90s because of the trashiest drama imaginable after all. I think everyone likes a good story, whether it's inspirational or a straight up trainwreck.
