Thank goodness! I made disparaging comments about B/S in the past but I'm rooting for them now. Glad that Dima got his skates back. Hoping he feels better soon!

Yay! Why have you changed your mind?

Greater appreciation of the technicalities of dance. More attention to close holds, steps, extensions, lines, posture, etc. They do a great short dance every time, the one in the team event at Sochi was the best they've ever done.

That being said, the rather strange experimental free dances are still hit and miss, but I appreciate and respect their willingness to experiment. We don't need more POTO or Swan Lake, do we? But please, no more dogs barking on the soundtrack though, okay? ;)

And I can't wait to see how they interpret Anna Karenina, that soundtrack by Dario Marinelli is one of the best film music scores of the last decade. She seems suited to to the task. That flaming red hair suits Katya.

Not Katya's forte tbh.

He says that he wants badly to compete again, but he will obey the recommendations of the doctors.

That's the right thing to do. We don't want another Shabalin.

This. That's why I love them in the first place.

New interview with B/S together: http://winter.sport-express.ru/figureskating/reviews/51552/

Google-translate:
Solovyov injury and the subsequent operation is completely changed plans dancers. This turned out to such an extent ordeal that Dmitry, when we met with annoyance said: "You can not imagine to what extent I want to spit on all the recommendations of doctors inject yourself analgesic and finally begin to" chase "the two programs."

- A look at how others are competing in this state, too, should be easy.

- So I have not watched them. Selectively looking through some records, but only in terms of finding some new ideas. And there are no live broadcast. They too exacerbate the feeling that life is passing, and you do anything you can not do anything. Get mad, annoying, trying to squeeze out all possible, and it is "possible" is strictly limited state of the organism.

- I suspect the motives of Maxim Shabalin, too early left on the ice after a similar operation, you now better understood?

- This is true. I am also very eager internally on the ice all the time. In principle, of course, I understand that doing the right thing, without forcing the load. Now, when I started to ride, do not feel strong pain.

- Muscle weakness affects much?

- There is. I tried to load after surgery both legs evenly - within a framework that allows the doctor, but you know how it is: somewhere hurt somewhere tighten and restrict the mobility of joints, somewhere a long time does not decrease swelling ...

- Of those programs that you have seen in another version, something memorable?

- One can see that this - posleolimpiysky year. Do not feel that people are trying to squeeze out of a maximum of - in ideas, in support of the other elements. This is especially noticeable in comparison with the amount of creativity that was in the Olympic season. Perhaps this is the right thing - do not rush to reveal the card. Still, even before the following Games for three years.

- Then the question Kate: she feels dancer, forced to such a long period of training alone?

- I got a very rewarding experience indeed. A couple of you somehow holding on to a partner. Somewhere he twirled you where something pushed. When everyone does the same one, it immediately becomes clear, you stand on the leg or not. All weaknesses inevitably emerge. And you start to do everything, raschityvaya exclusively on their own. Yet it is a great opportunity to work on "fad" that is to do with the work, which is usually never enough time. Besides, I'm looking at Dima, made certain conclusions. For example, that one's own body must be treated very seriously. Especially in advanced age, to which we are already beginning to approach.

- Severely you about myself ...

- This is, I think, we should start to think in advance and not when injuries occur. I remember before the Games in Vancouver, we were at some gathering together with Jana Khokhlova and Sergei Novitsky, and I noticed how long and hard the guys warming up before each workout and how long stretch finish the job. Jan told me then, saying that after a couple of years I myself understand why this is necessary. It is. Now I am preparing muscles quite differently. I understand that it depends on my state of health as well as our overall athletic longevity.

- Dima, when you started skating again and stood with Kate in a couple, feelings changed?

- I would not say. But I feel as confident Kate rides. I have a stretch for someone. And this is - an additional incentive.

- How is your day today?

- In the morning I wake up and food on the procedure. This is usually all kinds of heating. At 10 am we warm up, we usually spend our choreographer Sergei Petukhov. Then engage the support. Then - training on the ice, sometimes - two in a row. Then I go to a rehabilitation training: about two hours doing work out the muscles of the legs with a specialist. Then again, procedures, after which I try to go home, eat and work to end the day in the hall on the upper part of the body. I like that I train all day, that is constantly doing something, I get tired, but do not lose the ability to carry the load.

- What you are given the most difficult?

- Transitions between elements and various ligaments. On them and more pain, and leg still behaves not as confident as I would like. But we're working on it.

- While we are in no hurry to transfer to the ice support - again chimed in Katya. - In one of them is in the Dima "boat", where the load on the knee is quite high, and the second makes all on one leg - injured. Therefore it is necessary to be cautious.

- Dima, how big is your desire to act in the championship of Russia in Sochi?

- This is our main goal at the moment. Already next week I will be allowed to load the leg in full, and we will have two and a half weeks to ensure that the program to roll. It is clear that it will depend on well-being and that will tell the trainers and doctors, but skate in Sochi I am going in full force. Already like.

- What say you, Kate?

- We have in this season very successful program, it is noted by many experts, and really want to have them show. And "Carmen" and "Anna Karenina."

- Which of these images for you more comfortable?

- Carmen emotionally given a little bit easier. But Karenina interesting. There is much more diverse emotions - the whole story before you rush under a train.

- You will remain - the redhead?

- No, I will try again to change the color. Perhaps a darker. I like to experiment. With each new shade I feel that I have even changed the character.

- Do you think that someone of you the first half of the season was given heavier?

- Each in its own way. It was hard enough to force yourself to work alone. Especially when you expect that your partner is about to come on the ice, but instead there is a new problem. But do not think that Dima was easier.

- Dima, agree with a partner?

- I would not say that we somehow are especially hard. I think that our problems do not go to any comparison with the fact that people have had to endure - just look at the internet to see how much sorrow in the world. We - healthy, with hands, feet. Well, not very pleasant to live with the feeling that you sum up the whole team, who is forced to work without you. Involuntarily there is a sense of guilt. But now it is all over?

It looks like they will be ready. Dima's ready to fight. Katia's going to change her hair colour again. And she thinks Carmen is easier than Karenina to interprete :) YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!:dance::dance:

Well, Anna isn't really used that often in dance, and there are some film versions (several were made in the US and I'm sure there are even more Russian versions), so there's no real go-to frame of reference. For Carmen she would have Katya Witt, Debi Thomas, Anjelika & Oleg, Plushy, Evan, V/M, C/L and so many others to look at over the years. So it's "easier" in terms of seeing how everyone else has performed Carmen, but Anna Karenina on ice hasn't been done often.

I live in North America but one of my Christmas Day activities is watching Russian or Japanese nationals online. Looking forward to seeing them! Waking up and seeing the Russian ladies free skates and FDs made a marvelous xmas gift to myself. :)

I agree with your points about Carmen. Karenina is a very complex character, if you go by the book. Movies are one thing but in the book she's more complex. Anna goes through a lot of emotions in relatively short amount of time, and they're quite polar.
And I think we'll see her throw herself in front of the 'train' in the end of the programm. Maybe even literally. She says there's 'a whole story before she goes under the train'. Idk if she's talking about the book or about their dance itself.

And lucky you, I'm going to work during Nationals.

There was a good USSR Anna Karenina movie, with the great Tatiana Samoilova as Anna. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/26/Samoilova.jpg
I loved her since I was a child. Thanks to that beautiful movie The Cranes Are Flying (Letyat zhuravli).
I always cry when watching this movie.

Yes. It's heartbreaking. Both 'Анна Каренина' and 'Летят журавли'.

But I always feel kinda offended when people say that 'Anna Karenina' is a movie. It's a masterpiece Russian classic novel in the first place. And only then the movies. I don't even know why I'm reacting like that :confused2:

 Don't worry, I know what you mean. I'm a big fan of Tolstoy and I have read Karenina so many times that I can't even remember the number. Same goes for War&Peace (his masterpiece for me) and Resurrection (Воскресение, Voskreseniye).

I can't wat to see their Karenina. :)

Ah, I forget you live in Russia. I'm sure you could live-stream it quietly. ;)

And I was looking for Katya to do just that at the end of the program!

I read Anna for advanced literature classes in high school, and took a Russian literature course in translation in university. I'm just surprised that no one ever performs Levin and Princess Kitty instead of Anna and Losha.

It was popularly referred to do that way here in the Americas, but it wasn't until Oprah Winfrey put it on her book club a few years ago that its reputation shifted to classic novel again instead of just "a movie". The 2012 film version is a thing of beauty, since they actually addressed Levin's struggle and made him a character.

Because that's very difficult to do. You need a great choreo and I suspect many will not get it, unless they've read the book.

I'm with you there. But I'm just a little bit of an intellectual snob when it comes to classic novels converted into TV shows or movies. I once dated a guy who thought the BBC show Sherlock was based on the Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes movie and had no idea it was a series of short stories and novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Needless to say, the relationship didn't last much longer

Oh, it's nice to know someone outside of Russia actually like him and his books. Have you read Italian adaptation of 'Anna Karenina' or English, or maybe original version on Russian? I honestly have no idea how translator express all the emotions and tragedy of the story on different language. It must be hell of a job!

I have no chance to do that. Streaming blocked in my working network. And it would be amazing if someone did Levin and Kitty. But I doubt the audience would understand it.

Edit: I wonder if I can use my phone to watch live stream of it? Can anyone help me with that? I have Android 4.4.
