In honor of the upcoming POTO season, I present a cut from Friends on Ice 2008. It's mainly Dai's SlSt but there's also some well known veteran TJ in it.
This was very beautiful, thank you for sharing!

And speaking of POTO, maybe some of you already know but there was a skater named Ryo Shibata whom they called "the Japanese Johnny Weir" and he was the Junior National Champion in 2002, won 2 other JGPs but didn't have any success in the senior circuit so he retired in 2010. The only decent video I could find of him was POTO with lyrics from an exhibition gala. His Biellmann spin was pretty good.

I've seen Ryo Shibata before & was really impressed with his flexibility. Probably the only other male skater that can compare is Shawn Sawyer. I think he and Yuzuru might have similar tastes in costumes too. Nicovideo has some videos of him at Japanese competitions. From what I remember, he had a pretty bad fall in every one of them. Jumping was not his strong suit...but definitely a skater with some really nice qualities.

 Awwww. Did I tell ya'll already that this FoI 2008 was actually the first experience to watch the sport LIVE for me, and my very first encounter with Daisuke live? I brought my husband there, but almost forgot he was sitting beside me while watching Dai's gorgeous skates...

As for POTO party, may I add one more performance by Noriyuki Kanzaki, please? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zV_OnIICQGs
This was from the Nats in 2006-07 season, which was his last competitive season and Noriyuki had his skate of his life there! Just look at how all the audience got excited by his fabulous performance. Also how excited and proud his coaches, Mie Hamada and Yamato Tamura (now Satoko's coaches) were. Priceless moments. You will also find little Shoma at 6:35! :)

I didn't know where to talk about this, so I am doing it here. I had already watched the first event in the Junior Grand Prix in France and seen both Rin Nitaya and Miyu Nakashio. I am glad that Rin Nitaya got second and she did skate with considerable passion and artistry and the jumps she landed were quite good, though I hope she can skate cleaner next time. Rin seems a bit more sophisticated and her flexibility is a bit better, but I actually liked Miyu Nakashio's program a little more, probably because it was almost totally clean, except for one two footed landing, and I could tell from the expression on her face that she did too. So, I felt bad for her today when I noticed that she lost out on bronze to Amber Glenn, who made more mistakes, by less than 1/2 a point, even though Miyu beat her in the long by almost 2 points. What do the rest of you think? I hope she is able to get over this heartbreaking result and skates even better next time.

I hope this hasn't been posted before but I found video of team japan playing ping pong on a tv show and it may just be the cutest thing I've ever seen. Team Japan includes: Mao, Daisuke, Miki, Oda and Takahiko. The show is broken up in to 3 different videos with translations of each video underneath it.

Does anyone know if Daisuke, Mao or Machida have region free DVDs and where to get them? Turns out watching figure skating on my TV instead of youtube is awesome XD
