Its a shame Anna is so tall because she and Ruslan actually look nice together. Well she is in a very good partnership so not complaining .
You're right though. They look so good together and I wouldn't mind Mozgov with Elena.
Now that would be a shock for a lot of people.
Ilinykh is too short for Mozgov although they would have been an interesting couple if they matched physically. In an interview with Simonenko, he talked about why he went through 4 partners before Yanovskaya and he mentioned that he dumped Kosygina because she was too short. And he doesn't seem to like it if his partner is older than him.
I've always been a fan of the Carmen music, even though it has been used quite a bit! It is obviously a very good piece of latin style music, so I'm excited for this! I'm sure that with Naharro choreographing, this will turn out quite well. And the music and characters I agree suit Ruslan and Elena well. Can't wait to see this short dance!!http://fsrussia.ru/intervyu/89-kust...i-rebyata-zaryadili-vsekh-svoej-energiej.html -
In short dance you used the music of George Bizet "Carmen".
This was Elena's idea. We consulted our technical specialists if this music could be interpretated for this year's short dance and when we got a positive answer, we didn't even consider other options.
Does this mean that they already finished the FD and now are working on the SD?http://fsrussia.ru/intervyu/89-kust...i-rebyata-zaryadili-vsekh-svoej-energiej.html -
All I will say now is that we have been working with Ilya Averbukh for 3 years now. He has done programms for Vika and Ruslan. He agreed to continue working with our new duet. As Ilya said, co-work with Lena and Ruslan is even more interesting for him. We respect Ilya and really like him as we think he is one of the best russian's choreograohers now. You know, this person has very delicate soul, delicate understaning of music, programms, and that is why the new free dance of Lena and Ruslan turned out to be very touching and sentimental.
Yes. I think so too.Yes or at least this is what I gather from the interview. I think they're now working on both the FD and SD; getting it rolled in so to speak for rentals in September.
Thank you so much MsLiinaLii and uhh
I'm really glad to hear all that. Don't like Carmen at all, used to death, and even if it's a new version it was done by V&M.
I too wished for something new but lets see. My only real concern is will B/S also be using Carmen? Because Dmitry did say that Katya could not play Carmen as a blond. Albeit Navka and many others have done it and maybe he just talking in a generic sense. If any elite teams had plans to use it, I'd say change and fast. JMHO. Lena ha sthis type of dance in the blood. Case in point her as a 9 year old; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjp3YLIjV7I
The rest of the interview is very interesting as well - she is realistic about how much work they have to do, but talks a lot about how well Elena & Ruslan get on, and how much drive & determination they have to suceed. She particularly mentions the allegations about Elena being lazy & says she has seen nothing of that
Yeah I like that she's realistic, and I'm glad to hear that she is putting this rumors about Elena's work ethic to restYes! I thought it was a great interview. K was really positive and IZ sound very promising - but K was still very realistic about everything, which I appreciate.
Alba Yeah, VM's "Carmen" is by far my favorite. But, I'm hoping that IZ will have a great SD "Carmen." I think as long as it suits them and they can sell it, then it will be fun to watch. I do admittedly get tired of certain musical choices, but I'm always on board if the program ends up being good.

Navarro is a great choreographer so I have faith that they'll put up a comparable program. Can't wait! Does anyone know when we might find out what events they'll be competing this next season?

If it's a "new" thing I'm all for it, and I do really hope that.
Grand Prix assignments are announced at the end of June. I'm hoping they'll also do a senior B, maybe Finlandia or Nebelhorn in September just so they get used to competing with each other & pick up some more ranking points so they can improve their starting draw for other events, but we won't find out about that until much closer to the events.
To be honest, I never feel like another rendition of "scheherezade," carmen," "bolero," "POTO," etc is new. I just feel like they're various interpretations of the same story - what makes someone doing those programs and being amazing at them is when they sell their performance and the program becomes theirs. So I just hope that since they're doing it (& VM has very recently had a fabulous carmen), that they do it well and make viewers feel their story.
