^Maybe you are right.

But what we see - Sofia Biryukova solved that she has a chance in pairs.

I am pretty sure I am right! I mean, let's use common sense, who from the first twelve I named above she has chance beating? I would feel much more optimistic if she paired with someone who competed at reasonably high level, let's say Rogonov. But as a complete beginner to pairs, paired with a partner who is either also beginner or was not good enough to qualify to even nationals, and them together competing against pairs that either have been together for a while and successfully competing together (no matter if at junior or senior level), or against pairs that are newly created but at least one of them was pretty decent and both of them were good enough to qualify for senior nationals - she really doesn't have a chance. She would have a chance if Russia changed their rules and had 18 pairs compete at the nationals. But with 12 pairs competing and her not even qualifying to the nationals, she will disappear somewhere without us seeing her any more (except maybe at Russian internal competitions Russian cups).

And then there is more:
Anastasia Martiusheva/Alexander Korovin
Angelina Jekaterinina/Ivan Bich
Kamila Gainetdinova - Sergey Alekseev
Daria Popova/Andrei Novoselov
Ekaterina Borisova / Sergey Lisev
Anastasia Gubanova - Alexei Sintsov

Has the partnership of Popova been already confirmed?

I don't think that officially it has been confirmed. I read about it on the Russian forum a while ago.

Yeah, me too. I hope it wille be true. However, I've once read about her alleged partnership with some Ukrainian skater. I don't think it's a good idea - mainly because of this whole Ukraine-Russia conflict which may affects their results. And I don't think Daria Popova needs anymore "sensations".
Andrei Novoselov trains in Nina Mozer's school. It would be quite bizarre if they stayed there, I think. You know what I mean - Bruno in Steuer's school, Daria in Mozer's?

The difference is that Bruno got one of the strongest female pair partners in the world, whereas Daria got an average (or under-average) male partner, so we won't be talking about any rivalry in the near future.

I am more curious about the rivalry between the pairs Davankova-Enbert against Bazarova-Deputat and also Bazarova-Deputat against Larionov with his new partner (sorry forgot her surname). In both those cases it is Vasiliev against Mozer. Vasiliev has an advantage of having the time and energy to put into his only pair, whereas Mozer has advantage with funding and probably a better group of specialists to help her group.

Certainly. I'm not talking about serious rivalry beetween Popova/Novoselov and Savchenko/Massot, just about the fact they are in totaly opposite "camps". ;) You're right - competition Mozer-Vasiliev would be interesting. Strictly speaking, Vasiliev has 2 pairs in team, unless Della Monica/Guarise has changed their coach.
I've written somewhere that is a fight of two absolutely and entirely different coaching style. Mozer base her training on rivalry and Vassiliev on attention given to each skater. What makes their "contest" even more interesting are all those Mukhortova-Vasiliev stories :yay:

I think Vasiliev got married recently (within last year or something like that) so Mukhortova would be now 'old news'. It was not only Mukhortova, before her it was Totmianina (also his student). Let's hope that he likes only blondes and Vera is not his type. Perhaps Gerboldt...?

I hope not :p I heard about Totmianina, but Mukhortova's story is "spicer" because of her partnership with Trankov - their results, lack of fit to each other and so on. Vera is so pretty, I've recently seen photo of her without make-up, she looks lovely. I hope she's not in his type :p

Actually, I find more intriguing the story between him and Totmianina, because weirdly enough, the relationship did not negatively impact on Totmianina-Marinin's relationship and their competitive results, contrary to what one would expect. The relationship between him and Mukhortova had the outcome one would expect; Mukhortova-Trankov's results were affected and the relationship between Mukhortova-Trankov - if look could kill, they would both be dead. I am more curious how he made it work if the first case and what he did different that it did not work in the second case. Saying that, Mukhortova-Trankov may have hated each other even before they came to him, so it may not all be his fault.

Even on the NBC feed (you can find it on YouTube), the commentators said how much Masha and Max hated each other! That was certainly intriguing. And I know someone who worked the pairs event in Vancouver who confirmed that ... yes, their fights were just plain UGLY backstage.

I was really glad when Max joined up with Tanya.

(New - means at least one partner of well-known split couples or well-known single skater)

Split

Dance:
Isabella TOBIAS / Deividas STAGNIUNAS
Ekaterina RIAZANOVA / Ilia TKACHENKO
Elena ILINYKH / Nikita KATSALAPOV
Victoria SINITSINA / Ruslan ZHIGANSHIN
Tanja KOLBE / Stefano CARUSO

Who else?

Justyna PLUTOWSKA / Peter GERBER are no longer training together.

Justyna unexpectedly decided to quit in early May and move back to Poland for personal reasons.

I guess she may become well known for not knowing what she wants as this is NOT the first time she has walked away form a great opportunity. :rolleye: :disapp:

Peter is actively looking for a new partner with a Polish Citizenship from US or Canada; currently there is no one in Poland that he could pair up with.

What else situation do you mean? It's so depressing that they decided to split, both Justyna and Peter seemed to be determined and very fastly developing. When I saw them last season, I was so glad that we have anybody better than Zvorigina and Bernadowski. And now we returned to begining. So sad. And Peter is very talented, I hope he's gonna find somebody soon.

Before she started skating with Peter, Justyna had an opportunity to train in Moscow with someone else. The training arrangements and accommodations were set, terms agreed upon. She went, skated for a day or two and came back to Poland. She didn't like it there.

The sad part here is that it's not that THEY decided to split. That's just it... She went to Poland for Easter and told Peter she is not coming back just four days before her scheduled flight back to Detroit. Pairs split up all the time and for different reasons, that's absolutely understandable. It's just the way she chose to do this was quite nasty.

Yeah, that's quite awful of her :p I really can't understand her behaviour - if she really has anything better to do than figure skating, that's her bussiness but I don't think it was the proper way to inform her partner about it. They had a progress this season what makes her decision even more unbelievable.

Is it bad if my mind instantly went to Agnes?
Maybe skating with someone else and having someone to lean on would help her a lot. Who knows if she knows anything about the dance discipline though.

Me too! Of course it could be that the thread on her was next to this in the forum at the top ...

They had a progress this season what makes her decision even more unbelievable.

Not only that... they also already qualified for next Worlds (they got the points in Japan). Both Peter and Justyna were happy about the results and the way they skated in Saitama and very happy about the qualification. Then a month later she turns around and just walks away.

I guess, we need to move on and focus on the future of Polish Figure Skating without Justyna.

I didn't read the thread about Agnes, (I know she is planning to sit this season out). Don't really have an opinion on single skaters moving onto ice-dance and I don't think she would ever consider this; or if he would consider this either. I know Yura Kim (Korea) just started skating with Tim Kaleto. This is what he said about this in the interview on Ice-Dance.com :
“Not many people move from senior men to senior ice dance at 21 years old with no prior experience,” Koleto said, “but I am not intimidated by the challenge. I love ice dance more than I ever thought I could, and this experience is so unique. It is a bit cliché to say that I am ‘living the dream,’ but I feel that I really am.”

Peter is looking... so ladies spread the word ;)
