Corey lied about his record--ok he says he never lied, he just didn't think they wanted to know :rolleye:--so really he's the real thief from AI2 IMHO...

Carmen should not have been top 6... and Vanessa annoys me so I am glad I didn't have to listen to her at all

Josh so deserved his top 4 placement... COUNTRY RULES, YO!

Oh I definitely agree about Carmen. She warbled her way into the top 12.

Corey is a liar, no doubt. I just enjoyed his voice(on certain nights like when he did This Old Heart of Mine). I'm glad he was thrown out of the competition for lying. His arrest was much more severe than Frenchie's website scandal. Honestly, Frenchie would have had no problem getting into the final 2 last year if she hadn't been booted.

I loved Vanessa. Her voice was always spot on and she had a great personality. I know a lot of people were put off by her snarking at Ryan, but that was completely scripted as Ryan himself told the audience.

I do like some country music but Josh just isn't my cup of tea. It would have been interesting to see him on Nashville Star.

Toni, I clicked on your banner of Josh and listened to his new single. I must admit country music is not my cup of tea, but I thought it was good. He's a nice looking guy, sings well, already has had national exposure........he should do well......good for him..42

maybe, maybe not... I didn't like her voice... and who knows how she'd have faired on some of the nights... there are too many unknowns IMHO

not only that but I don't think she'd get the same "Velvet Teddy Bear" comments that Ruben got... which was his most endearing quality... and I know a lot of people who wouldn't vote for her because of her porno work...

and I didn't see Vanessa on AI... but stuff she's said and done post-Idol really turned me off...

During AI 1, I was looking for a Tamayra/Kelly final. Can't stand that Nikki and Justin made it further than T. At this point in time, I think Kelly is the only one still on contract with anyone. I'm not sure if Nikki was ever signed or release anything. Justin release his CD to dismal sales and has been released. Tamayra has also been released, but her CD will be coming out soon.

During AI 2, I agree with the final 3. KimL, especially, seemed to improve as the weeks went by. The only reason that I didn't like Clay was all the facial ticks, which has fortunately gotten rid of. BTW, there are internet rumors that he's become a bit of a prima donna. While I liked Ruben, I don't think he's well suited to life in the spotlight, although his CD did ok.

As for AI 3, I really haven't gotten into this one. I heard KimL promoting her CD on WPLJ and the DJ's asked for her opinion of the current contestants. She didn't get specific, but made a valid point when she said that very few of the kids have any type of significant experience, which is why this season pales a bit. In past AI's, most of the final 10/12 had performed in either high school and/or college bands - more experience with working a different audience and more years of singing. This year's AI has a lot of under 18's as compared to prior AI's. I think this is why I'm not excited by anyone in particular. Only George, LaToya and Fantasia have jumped out for me with good performances.

BTW, I only vote when I get really excited by at least one performance from someone who has been consistently at least good. This year, there seems to be a lot of (excuse the term) pitchiness.

Prima Dona? How so? from what I've read on the Southern Baptist site... and other Christian sites... he's stuck to being just a really great guy...

he's probably a little sick of his fans... I would be! LOL

I'm not sure if Nikki was ever signed or release anything.

She said that she turned stuff down because she wasn't the winner and therefore didn't want a consolation prize!

she had a sore loswer attitude... she told "deep dark secrets" about AI... she told the truth about the sexuality of some of the singers (ie Clay is really gay, he just doesn't want people to know it... and they DID find ways to have sex in the house even though it wasn't supposed to happen) and basically just had a field day being a tabloid gossip

whether it's true or not what she said is not really my business... but she did a whole lot of unprofessional things in the name of free speech(she condemns Alaskans who have sled dogs... and she's never been up here :rolleye: or seen them in action) she really just spouts her mouth off without anything substantial to back herself up... I wasn't impressed last year and I am not impressed now (her album didn't do too well ... if it even made it out there past the 'net)

I vote based on the performances of the night, but of course how many times is colored by a couple of different factors: personality, who I think might be in danger of getting booted, how far in the competition it is. The first couple of rounds, I will vote for anyone I think sang exceptionally - sometimes as many as 4 contestants will get my vote, and if any 1 or 2 really really stick out, I'll vote for them. At this point in the game, I don't care who it is (i.e. whether they're my "favorite" or not).

About midway through, after seeing how contestants have been doing overall, I will still vote for a couple of different performances if they really reach me, but I take into account the overall progress of the performer. Last season, Carmen could have had a week where she was absolutely amazing, and I would not have voted for her, because I felt she was the absolute weakest singer in the competition. If someone sings well and I think they might be in danger of being booted (in favor of someone who was really horrible), I will probably give them a bunch of votes to keep them in the competition.

Towards the end, I vote for my favorite, or favorites, but at that stage of the game my 'favorites' are determined by my belief in their singing ability. In AI1, I really liked Nikki a whole lot - her personality, her look - but I could not vote for her because there were others who were clearly better singers. In AI2, I thought the final 3 was right on. I would have been happy with any combination ending up in the final 2. I voted for Clay over Ruben for his personality and consistency - bu I would have voted for K. Lo over either of them in the final 2 because she was the best technical singer in the Top 12, and had made such an amazing transformation. (I also expect the Kimberly would have come in 2nd if she'd made it to the top 2).

The only time I have voted purely based on personality, not on the singing, was for this year's Group 2. I tried my darndest to get Bree into the Top 12, even though she didn't have a very good performance, because I was psyched at the possibility of seeing someone I could identify with in the competition - but Bree didn't really blow it any worse than the others in her group. Had she made it to the Top 12 and not improved, I would not be voting for her.

Actually, Vanessa put out a single in Canada that went top 5. She's now appearing in the musical Hairspray in Toronto if I'm not mistaken. She's done pretty well for herself.

I will try and not let my sarcastic side show when it comes to vanessa then....I'm obviously going to get in over my head

I also voted for Bree... I thought she was way better than the two that did make it through... over all... she had a nice voice...

I vote for whomever I see as my favorite. This year the only person who gets votes from me is....John Stevens. Maybe it's because I'm in my 60's that his voice & style appeal to me. I'm also annoyed by the judges & their choices. I'm beginning to believe they put thro the 16/17 yr. olds just so they can diss them with complaints of "not being confident enough", "sounds the same every week". Well, IMO, so do George, LaToya, & Jennifer sound the same, no matter what they sing. Overall, this season in no way compares to last year as far as talent. And if you aren't watching "Nashville Star" this year you've missed some terrific talent. They are down to the final 5. (Go, Brad!) And I haven't listened to c & w for over 30 years. These people are great singers as well as talented musicians & composers.

sorry I'm just really getting annoyed with going online just to read one John bash after another... not nessecerily here... but the lack of John love doesn't help my already cranky mood! LOL

Well, Toni, that's why I posted: To let you know there are others who think he is talented. My daughter says he sends chills down her spine when he sings & she is in her 40's.

Just read this link on another board

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4649112/

With regard to the prima donna RUMOR, supposedly Clay was in a green room and said he wanted a Coke. An intern handed him a Pepsi and Clay supposedly screamed at him 'I said Coke'. The intern ran off to get the Coca-cola. When he got back with the Coca-Cola, Clay was drinking the Pepsi and said 'nevermind'.

Here's another link, but I'm not familiar with the publication.

hmmmmmmmmmm could it be he asked for a non-caffinated drink though? because that'd make more sense than him worrying about coke vs pepsi... being as how he's supposed to be allergic to caffene... so I don't know...

the only fit throwing I've seen him do was on the American Idol tour special on TV when the tech crew screwed up and wouldn't give him a back up mic so he basically sang but wasn't heard and it wasn't like he didn't try to get the mic... they just didn't understand... and he was pretty upset about that... I would be too LOL

Whether or not they have talent! No, seriously, I don't watch American Idol; did not watch Canadian Idol either.

Clay strikes me as the type who wouldn't let fame really go to his head. Didn't he used to teach autistic children in North Carolina before trying out for Idol?
