Preliminary info - Junior Men.
Roman SADOVSKY CAN - 1st place at JGP Cze. Good chance to Final.
He ZHANG CHN - 3rd at JGP Est, score 1 point higher than Sadovsky at his Event. Pretends to medal and Final.
Sei KAWAHARA JPN - 3rd place at JGP Cze.
These three are main pretenders to medals.

Shotaro OMORI USA - 4th place at JGP Slo, with not so good skating.
Daniil BERNADINER RUS - 6th place at JGP Cze, no chance to Final, but some chance to medal. He has level about the same as Vladimir SAMOILOV, whose FS at Estonia was very good, only because mistakes at SP he had 6th place.
Andrei LAZUKIN RUS - he skated good at 1st Event of Russian Cup (3A+3T on good GOE at FS). May pretend to medal, may not, because he is unstable.

I believe these six skaters are most interesting at this Event.

Preliminary info - Junior Ladies.
Wakaba HIGUCHI JPN - 2nd place at JGP Cze.
Elizabet TURZYNBAEVA KAZ - 3rd place at JGP Japan.
Leah KEISER USA - 3rd place at JGP Slo.
Mariko KIHARA JPN - 4th place at JGP Cze, with score 6.81 points higher than Leah Keiser at her Event.
Elizaveta IUSHENKO RUS - 5th place at JGP Cze, may skate much better and pretend to medal. At previous Event she was only 1 month at her new coach, now - 2 months.
Lutricia BOCK GER - doesn't pretend to anything, but interesting girl. At JrWorlds she was first of European (except Russia) Ladies.
Alexandra PROKLOVA RUS - there is info that she fully restored after injury.

Very, very interesting competition.
But ordinary situation - Japan, Russia, USA. Turzynbaeva practiced in Moscow (coach Eteri Tutberidze), now Canada (Brian Orser), so Russia-Canada (almost Russia-USA).

All things being equal about judging, D&L, M&C, P&V, and E&B, if any of the top 3 falter, should make up the podium., but their scores are very close. The SD will be absolutely key.

Delmastro/Lum scored 131.30 at their last event. I looks like the winner at this event will nab a spot to the final as the two Russian couples who won events are in Croatia.

I'm rooting to Lorraine and Quinn to get that last spot! Though a Russia v. Canada JGPf would be sort of interesting.

The Parsons still have a chance for the JGPF, too.

I think it will be tougher because they have to face two couples with 15 points. Their chances of winning is low cause Yanavskaya/Mosgov are there and even if they pull second, they will get beat by Morozova/Zhirnov if they finish thierd (1&3 v. 2&3).

Even if M/Z finish fourth, they still beat the Parsens in a placement tiebreaker. They would have to finish 5th or lower, which seems unlikely (though not impossible...) and the Parsons finish 2nd for them to make the JGPF.

That's why Lorraine and Quinn (and the other) contenders would need to win to make it. Yanavskaya/Mosgov will be the only repeat winners in the JGF field, I think.

Edwards/Pang, Bent/Mckeen and Morozova/Zhirnov and whoever wins in Germany will have one win each.

Yes, it is not clear at all yet

:)

Pairs is unpredictable for the third spot:

1 Hope MCLEAN / Trennt MICHAUD CAN 1
2 Julianne SEGUIN / Charlie BILODEAU CAN 1
3 Anna DUSKOVA / Martin BIDAR CZE 2
4 Sumire SUTO / Konstantin CHIZHIKOV JPN 3
5 Daria BEKLEMISHEV / Maxim BOBROV RUS 4
6 Maria CHUSHCHANOVA / Denis MINTSEV RUS 4
7 Lina FEDOROVA / Maxim MIROSHKIN RUS 4
8 Chelsea LIU / Brian JOHNSON USA 5
9 Lindsay WEINSTEIN / Jacob SIMON USA 5

Meanwhile in pairs, four of the 7 pairs from US, Canada, and Russia are making their first JGP appearance. Fedorova and Miroshkin could only manage a distant second to Seguin& Bilodeau at Ostrava

1 Julianne SEGUIN / Charlie BILODEAU CAN 159.40 1 1
2 Lina FEDOROVA / Maxim MIROSHKIN RUS 144.62 2

It looks like S&B for the win, but the other 2 medals will be interesting.

The following team from Russia is making their JGP debut at Dresden this week.

Daria Beklemishev & Maxim Bobrov RUS
SP Charade (Medley Waltz) by Liberace; choreo by Sergei Komolov, Alexei Zhelezniakov
LP Hallelujah by Lisa Lois; choreo by Sergei Komolov, Alexei Zhelezniakov

as is this Russian team

Maria Chushchanova & Denis Mintsev RUS
SP Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps performed by The Pussy Cat Dolls
LP The Fairytale of Wanderings (modern arrangement) by Alfred Schnittke

and this Canadian team
Hope McLean & Trennt Michaud CAN
SP The Ghost of Stephen Foster by Squirrel Nut Zipper; choreo by Alison Purkiss
LP West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein; choreo by Alison Purkiss

and the newly formed US team of

Chelsea Liu & Brian Johnson USA
SP Selections from Mary Poppins by the Sherman Brothers; choreo by Christine Binder
LP Yellow River Concerto" by Chengzong Yin; choreo by Christine Binder

I have just been to the ice rink, its huge! They have so many seats there and I am afraid when the event will happen hardly any will be used :(

Of course nobody else from the press there yet but hey it wont start before tomorrow anyways and then its just the practice.

So ya, not much more to say right now - actually except that its huge! Thanks for the other infos to the other Alex, Doris and Co. ;) I still need to do some homework about some skaters and these information help a lot. I still want to say that I can highly recommend Aleksandra Golovkina from Latvia she always has great programs.

Is there a specific skater you like who will start at Dresden?

Seguin & Bilodeau

and Krzysztof GALA POL .
I had thought he had retired. He did quite well at his last JGP.

scoring a PB in the S P and for total score.

Ziggy must be smiling :)

Need to check those out then ;) Ladies running right now and the men ;)

Hmm....is this event not streamed?

It should be, but it wont start before tomorrow 11 CET I think. (5 AM Eastern / 18 Japan standard)

I am sitting at the ice rink but so far I don't have any access to any information as nobody else is here yet and I don't want to bother the ISU office with it, they are busy enough already ;)

A few first impressions.

I got lost several times this place here is like a labyrinth! Besides that its not that crowded as expected, you can buy food and drinks here, seating is based on a first come and its pretty cold so far!

I have a hot candidate for the "smile award", she fell at every jump but was kind of cute while doing so. I was impressed with the Japanese and the Korean girls (Mariko Kihara (3t-3t) / Kyueun Kim -> great interpretation and style, Wakaba Higuchi --> 3 Lutz & Toe, 2axel & 3 toe ), also great stuff by Leah Keiser a very mature girl.
Elizaveta Iushenko triple toe comb and triple Lutz, great spins, love her attitude on the ice. She was at the NRW last year, great girl.

The Russian pairs were great as well but also Julianne Seguin and Charlie Bilodeau (3tw, loop throw and nice lifts).

I wonder if Proklova took part in the practice. Based on what I read in the fan thread she may have not recovered yet.
