In fact I feel sorry for Gillis/Porier. They did well at last year's worlds and looked to be moving up but with their GP assignments they have little to no chance to make the GPF. They should come 3rd at SC but will probably end up 4th at their 2nd assignment.

I don't see H/B being pushed unto the world team this year. Who would they jump over? From the GP assignments it looks like C/B, S/S H/D all have great shots at making the GPF. And if that happens they will certainly want to send those 3 teams to worlds.

I don't foresee 3 American teams making the GPF. Assuming W/P, C/L, C/B & B/S are locks, I think the shibs, H/D, G/P, P/I, both of the new I/K pairings will be in the mix for the final 2 slots.

As I said in a prior post, I think H/B could pick off H/D possibly. They haven't been on a world team since 2012 so I don't think their total locks. Obviously if H/D have a great fall and make the GPF, it may be a different story.

Oh man this is my first time hearing she went into surgery this summer! I hope that she's able to move on a timeline that's smart and healthy. It would be GREAT to see them compete in the grand prix this fall. They certainly earned their spots.

Other recent changes:

Peter Liebers w/d from CoC (shoulder injury, he's hoping to return for NHK)
Aaron/Settlage added to SA host spot
Ziegler/Kiefer added to TEB (France threw their remaining host spot back into the pot)
Zhao/Zheng added to CoC for the final dance host spot there (appears to be a new partner situation for Xun Zheng)
Hae Jin Kim added to CoC just this morning (China threw their remaining host spot back into the pot)

There's a good chance Mikhail Kolyada will withdraw too - I believe he's broken his ankle. :(

Is Yasmin Siraj still skating?

Barbie Long is SB #56 and she is skating as a senior this year. She's assigned to the Skate Canada Autumn Classic.

Any US ladies will be hard up to get a spot. The only GP with a spot available for a US woman is Skate Canada. For any other GP, a US woman would have to withdraw for Angela or Mariah to get a spot (both of those two ladies are currently in the top 5 substitution list).

AlexRus, it appears that Ross' recent score from Salt Lake Challenger series does not count, then?

He earned 209.78 there.

I think it's unclear how the Challenger series events are going to work. If a skater beats their 2013-14 SB during a 2014-15 Challenger Series event, will they get bumped up the list? Or is it more of a way for a non qualified skater to qualify at the end of the list, below the SB #75 (assuming everyone on the 2013-14 SB list met the minimum score requirements)?

My interpretation is that it's the latter. There was some discussion of it here: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/ind...nts-2014-15-season.92601/page-16#post-4325807

I believe for Grand Prix selections, only last seasons' SBs count.

The only thing where the Challenger Series comes into play is if Ross had WON the competition. He he would have shot up to the bottom of the substitution list, hence bumping Jeremy Ten who is in the No. 5 spot, I believe.

ETA: Though BG may be right that provision only applies to those who aren't in the SB 75 list already...

Announcement, chapter 2.3.
Skaters/Couples, placed in the top 75 Grand Prix Season’s Best (season 2013/14) are placed on the alternate list.
Announcement, chapter 7.6.
Skaters/Couples, who place first in any of the ISU Challenger Series international competitions for 2014/15 and can prove to have skated the minimum total score or the minimum Technical score as mentioned in paragraph 2.3, as well as Skaters/Couples, who can prove to have skated the minimum Technical score will be added to the alternate list, bottom ranked according to their scores.

It may be treated as:
1. Alternate List is in order of SB 2013/1014 Season.
2. Winners of Challenge Series Events will be added to Alternate List according to their scores.

Ross did not win US International Skating Classic, so may not pretend to place according to the score of this competition.

Thank you. I thought that was how it worked, but didn't quite remember and was too lazy to look it up on my phone.
