Anyone know why the Reeds are out?

Chris wrote on his blog in mid-August about a leg injury, where he said a doctor advised him to stay off the ice for a few days. Perhaps those 'few days' of recovery ended up taking a lot more time than anticipated?

However, recently they've been posting more things about shows and local festivals than competitive skating. If an injury is the reason, I wish Chris a speedy and thorough recovery so they do not pull out of NHK.

(If anyone is interested, their blog is in Japanese, but can be very loosely translated with Google translate or anything of the like, and can be found here: http://ameblo.jp/reed-icedance-blog/)

Wow. Is it me or are does it feel like we running out of skaters?? I do hope those spots will get filled. Especially since theydid not increase the number of entries for dance and pairs. I found that a pair or ice dance grand
Rix event with less than 8 entries doesnt feel right.

Yeah this is truly ridiculous, absolutely much much worse than an average year, even an average post-Olys year.

Charlene Guignard/ Marco Fabbri (ITA) have been added as Bobrova/ Soloviev's replacement at Trophee Eric Bompard. Now there is no more open ice dance spots. 3 ladies, 3 men, and 2 pairs spots still need to be filled. I highly doubt whether or not they can get the Skate America hole filled in time. We shall see.

Thx, AlexRus.

Excerpt from USFS press release today re Kayne/O'Shea's GP withdrawals:

Kayne underwent right hip surgery on July 28 and has been progressing well with therapy and training. Although the athletes, their coach, Jim Peterson, and her medical staff are pleased with Kayne's progress, the team has not had enough training time to compete at this point in the season.

Kayne and O'Shea will focus on preparing for the 2015 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships, which will take place Jan. 17-25, 2015 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Ross Miner has only one spot, NHK. Having won a Challenger Series event, and being the current series leader, might he not get a second spot? Both Skate Canada and Cup of China only have 11 entrants and only 2 USA guys. So does Nhk have a slot, but he is already assigned there.
He is 28th in World Standings, and fourth.in this season's rankings. He has the seventh highest total score so.far this season.

Skate Canada has 3 Canadians, and so no Canadians can be assigned there
.
Cup of China has 3 Chinese, and so no more Chinese can be assigned there

NHK has 3 Japanese and 3 Americans.

Other guys with one slot only.
Michael Christian Martinez at SkAm, eligible for all 3 slots. Currently 25th in World Standings. Best ever total score 199.92 at Lombardia this year.
Jorik Hendrickx at SkAm; eligible for all 3 slots
Misha Ge at CoC, eligible for NHK or Canada
Douglas Razzano at SkAm, eligible for all 3 slots
Steven Carriere at CoR, eligible for China or Canada; also won a Challenger Event with the 12th best season score
Alexander Majorov at CoR, eligible for all 3 slots
Mikhail Kolyada at CoR, eligible for all 3 slots
Jin Seo Kim at NHK, eligible for Canada or China
Keiji Tanaka at CoC, eligible for Canada only
Daisuke Murakami at NHK, eligible for Canada or China
Romain Ponsart at TEB, eligible for all 3 slots
Peter Liebers at NHK, has injury and can't get another slot
Yi Wang at CoC, eligible for Canada or NHK
Jeremy Ten at CoR, eligible for China or NHK
Liam Firus Skate Canada, eligible for China or NHk
Elladj Balde at Skate Canada, eligible for China or NHK

I think MCM and Ross should get 2 of the three slots, if the slots are filled at all at this late date. Steven Carriere should also have a good chance.
