Thought it deserved its own thread. Also, easier to read without all the substitutes in there! Thanks for finding the link, Antilopa.

With all the new names listed, I'm thinking there could be some interesting surprises in all three disciplines.

Wondering why KOR still has their entries listed as TBA.

Interestingly, Sammi Wren/Alexei Shcheptov have apparently switched to GBR (listed as alternates for dance). Their past Nationals placements have been 9th in Junior in 2014, 3rd in Novice in 2013, 3rd in Intermediate in 2012, and 4th in Juvenile in 2011. Wonder what prompted the switch (though it's probably the wealth of young successful ice dancing teams that seem to be popping up in the US these days. I mean, Wheaton alone has potentially 6 or so)

New name.
24 Anastasia KOLOMIETS RUS
Born at 06 August 2000, StPetersburg, coach Marina Teterina.

At JrNats 2013 was 11th.
Zhuk Memorial 2013 (elder age) - 3rd (ahead Elizaveta IUSHENKO), Crystal Skate - 2nd (ahead Natalia OGORELTSEVA).

JrNats 2014 - 10th, Nationals Elder Age 2014 - 2nd, Final of Russian Cup (Junior) 2014 - 2nd.

She is the only Russian "new star" who became Junior at season 2014/2015, but probably not so high level as Sakhanovich, Sotskova, Proklova, Medvedeva past season.
All five triples, 3Lz+3T, 3Lo+1Lo+3S, two 3+3 combos in FS, spins 4 level, StSq 3 level.

That was an interesting spin in her SP. Looked like she pulled a bielman about 3/4 of the way and then held her arm straight out creating an interesting look. I let out a whoa(!) as it happened.

Thank you AlexRus for the info about Kolomiets! Can anyone inform us about the boys, too? The only one I know something about is Samarin...

She is interesting indeed. Maybe not the same level as top 4 Russian junior ladies, but she could have improved over the summer. Her FS had some beautiful moments.

PS. I am so ready for this season to begin!

Both Samarin and Lazukin are well known at International level.
They both were at GP Events at 2012 and 2013.
Samarin 3, 3, 4 places, Lazukin 7 and 5 places.

At JrNats-2014 Samarin was 4th, Lazukin 8th.

Korea will have a JGP qualification competition in Aug. 2~3. as they did last year.

Oh, cool. Thanks for the information! I just wondered since they were the only country with their entrants not listed specifically.

Deniss Vasiljevs (Latvia)! Can't wait to see his new programs. Amazing performer.

Yes, Deniss  Happy he is old enough for JGP. He looked so young/tiny at Junior Worlds. On the other hand I don't know the age rules for JGP. Dennis is 15 in August.

^Yeah, I see he placed 7th behind known names. I still think he looked small, but who knows about this season. Boys suddenly grow so fast.

During Junior World, someone posted the link to his performance from 2012. His progress during the short time period is impressive. And he is one of those happy go lucky typed. I like that a lot about him.

Looks like in dance, Canada's Edwards/Pang, bronze at JW, could have the gold sewed up. Their main competition is Nazarova/Nikitin (UKR), 5th at JW, and Loboda/Drozd (RUS). The top French competitor, Elizabeth/LeGac, was 11th at JW. The US is sending newbie team Day/Leahy and another young team, Logan/Bye, to this competition.

It's going to be the first time we are going to see a Moroccan skater in an ISU event (or any ISU-sanctioned competition), right? At least I don't remember seeing one in any competition results.

I know that some Moroccan skaters took part in ISU Development Trophy last season and they competed there, with their point totals being really low.

It's great to see a skater from Andorra competing, also.

I wonder whether Eveline Brunner is related to Salome at all (Swiss Choreographer who composed Lambiel's programs).

Deniss Vasiljevs (Latvia)! Can't wait to see his new programs. Amazing performer.

He is one of the voidiest skaters competing at present. I can't wait to see what his team can come up with as well.

I saw him live, competing in Novice Men, at Warsaw Cup a few years ago. He was tiny, yet he trampled over boys older than him, winning by a clear margin. What really struck me back then was the confidence and command he showed on the ice, in both of his programs. He projected incredibly and really lived his programs. He was like Plushenko at his peak, in this regard.

I instantly became a fan at that moment and I am very happy to see him progressing technically and learning the harder jumps and combinations.

I noticed that Vincent Zhou is not in the substitute list. Will he compete this season?

I don't believe the substitute list is the final list of the competitors a country will have. Some countries just tend to list a bunch of them, but it doesn't mean that they'll all get assignments and anyone not listed won't.
