For those who are averse to religious undertone, please skip, but then I thought it was very insightful and different interview with now retired Yuna.
It is quite long and it touches upon a lot of things.

Is this translated? I don't see a translator cited and I don't recall her being this eloquent in English.

Anyway, I thought it was a lovely interview (even for the unreligious like me), I grow to like her more every time I read or hear a new interview with her.

Probably translated as it is very eloquently written as you said. But I have no idea who the interpreter was or who translated this.
However, I see versions in other languages too but they are not complete and much shorter. I can only read French fluently amongst these languages to speak with certainty.
They probably have a lot of highly qualified scholars/priests/translators from all over the world in Vatican.

Nice interview, what a thoughtful young woman. Can a Korean speaker help me, is the word Jeong she refers to = Chinese character of 忠 ?

Thank you for posting the article. This is lovely.

It's great that her attitude to life is a one that instead on focusing about self, is about focusing on others.
The fact that she is a UN ambassador and is very generous with her money to help important causes (yet keeping quite quiet about it) and that her faith helps her to live life this way makes her distinct and unique.

For sure a humble, yet very classy act!

As otrique said, jeong (정) is for 情. The character you mentioned would be 충 in Korean.

i guess that's how yuna probably stayed strong mentally.. i'm not saying that those athletes who are faithful w/ their religion are stronger mentally.. but i think it contributed to her inner strength during competition..

Thank you for for the translation. Very interesting word, in Chinese, it dilute in meaning with wide application, but it seems in Korean, one meaning rise above all. It is nice to know she think about things like that, makes me think she is likely to be highly sentimental to those around her (pretty much all of Korea, outside Korea, fans), and likely a philosopher and a private person. This is a rare glimpse of her personality, her thoughts on her faith, I don't think she has ever divulge so much info... in English anyway.

Really a lovely article. It shows why she was able to carry herself with such dignity after the Olympics results, whether she agreed with the judges or not. This is someone who will always make a difference in life. I'm so glad to have this insight into her character. The concept of jeong is something I'd love to learn more about.
