PB for Popova/Vlasenko. It's 6.5 points more than their previous PB they had year ago.

Too bad I can't watch the stream at work :disapp:

Judge number 6 does not appear to like them very much

Looks like HE/She doesn't like anyone who skated today. His/Her marks for every pair are about 1-2 points lower than other judges'. But 4.75 for composition... :slink:

Short top three summery: Its Samba and Rhumba time!

1. Betina POPOVA / Yuri VLASENKO RUS
59.91

I loved their music selection (Cha Cha Danzon / Brazilian Samba), its music that you probably wont find anywhere in a pub at Russia, yet they were interpreting the music like it was natural for them. It was seductive and full of fire, I loved what she did with her hips that looked so great, I am sure she learned that at their home club with the fitting name of Sambo 70. Its hard to believe that she is just 17 years old! Their twizzle was brilliant in synchronicity and on beat, it received a level 4 and mostly +2 GOE, same goes for their rotational lift.

Betina was constantly looking over her shoulder like she was flirting with some guy, great interpretation and it does showcase the latin flavor very well. I also liked that little break down towards the end before they let the percussions slowly fade out. Great couple and I am sure the PCs would had been a tad higher in a later group.

2. Lorraine MCNAMARA / Quinn CARPENTER USA
55.61 SB

From Brazil and Latin America over to Africa and a few lions that kept roaring through the ice rink and it felt like we had two of them even on the ice with Lorraine and Quinn. I loved how they began their performance, like a lion stretching its toes after it woke up.
The Americans received a level three for their twizzle and a four for their straight line towards the end. My favorite part was their African sunset with the no touch midline sequence. On Saturday they will perform to the phantom of the opera, curious how they will interpret this.

3. Brianna DELMAESTRO / Timothy LUM CAN
51.81 SB

First of all, they were great in inviting the crowd to join them, it always felt like there was some type of connection between the skaters on the ice and us at the stands. Besides that, her slightly blue outfit did really look great and their Rhumba was a part of the Dirty Dancing Havana Nights movie. Their circular no touch was granted with a level 4 and I loved the transition to that element when her left knee was down on the ice, just greatly choreographed. The rotational lift at the end received a level 4 as well.
While browsing their Bios I saw that Brianna started skating with 4 while Timothy with 10, I would love to know how that influences them on the ice, pity there is no press conference at JGPs. :(

Actually D/L received a level 1 for their footwork. A level 1 on footwork really hits the marks as there is a 3 point base difference between level 1 and level 3 footwork.
