****EDITED on 24th October 2014****

Well, after all the horror stories we have been predicting in the more general thread over the past few weeks, the coverage of Skate America on Eurosport is not actually as bad as it looked like it was going to be when we first looked up the schedules a couple of weeks ago.

OK, so the coverage we are getting leaves a LOT to be desired. We are not getting any of the Short Programmes except for in Ice Dance, and the only LIVE coverage we are getting is the Ladies Free and the Pairs Free.

But, it is still a LOT more than we got for Skate America last season (see this thread for comparison!)

EDIT: Right, this is going to be the most complicated schedule of the season to follow, because Europe leaves Daylight Savings Time at 01:00 GMT on Sunday 26th October. So, Friday’s and Saturday’s schedules are in Daylight Savings Time, while Sunday’s schedule is back to normal time.

I have tried to make this as easy to follow as possible. So, apologies if I have not been as successful as I desired to be!

Thank you to figureskatingfan22 for pointing out to me that it was the Skate America weekend rather than the Skate Canada weekend that the clocks changed.

I do hope that there is a typing error in British Eurosport listings and we WILL see ladies short! I suspect also that listings are not that accurate at all and one needs to watch everything - I normally only watch singles

Thank you for this...I was just about to sign up for TVTeka, but I'm a little nervous about giving them my credit card number. It is geoblocked outside Russia, but I tested it with Hola & it seems to work ok.

For Canada, it seems like CBC will be broadcasting Skate America. If I'm reading their schedule correctly:

Online (http://www.cbc.ca/sports/figureskating):
Oct. 25, 4:00 p.m. EST - Dance and Men's Short Programs
Oct. 26, 1:00 p.m. EST - Dance and Men's Free Programs

TV:
Oct. 25, 4:00 p.m. EST - Dance and Men's Short Programs
Oct. 26, 2:00 p.m. EST - Dance and Men's Free Programs
Oct. 27, 12:00 a.m. EST - Pairs and Ladies' Free Programs

I'm guessing the full event will later be archived on the website (judging by what happened with Olympics and Worlds). Apologies if I got anything wrong; I'm hardly the most adept at streams or TV.

I remember watching SA using a Russian free live streaming last year, so if I understand correctly there will be the chance to do that this year, too? :yay:
And, thank you all for this useful thread!!

Judging from past experiences, CBC typically will have all of what they broadcasted on TV online to view afterwards, but no more.

I'm very happy about this coverage! 6 hours for a non-Skate Canada Grand Prix is great!

golden, thanks for the link to the backstage IN stuff :)

I wonder whether it will be geoblocked?

btw, anything with video on IN requires Flashplayer. The audio only content does not.

Regarding Eurosport's poor coverage this year of the Grand Prix Series, I was thinking that maybe finding two of the British Eurosport's presenters, Simon Reed or Chris Howarth on Twitter & asking them about why some SP's are not being shown.
I'm not on Twitter so I don't know how you would do it.
Contacting Eurosport directly just does not seem to work.

I'm not on Twitter either, and I'm making a point of not joining (really can't see the point in Twitter at all).

British Eurosport has it's own Twitter account ( https://twitter.com/EurosportUKTV ), and it is constantly posting things on it. So, even if you do not get a reply or any other sort of acknowledgement, you can be sure that somebody has at least read your complaint.

Neither Simon or Chris are very active on Twitter. Nicky has been more active, but hasn't posted anything since May. Joanne has been active most recently (with a VERY intriguing post from last month!), but I don't know if she is still part of the team.

During some of the competitions last season, the commentators were encouraging us to use the hashtag #eurosportskating . So, that might also be worth a try when the coverage starts.

But, apart from that, I'm out of ideas!

Online petition ?!.
Unless Eurosport realise that Snooker & Motorsport are not everything I think we are on a losing wicket.
Can someone who is on twitter contact Nicky Slater ?. He seems like a very nice man that would at least try to do something, especially if it meant more air time for him !.

Just my two cents:

Strongly suggest that you continue to direct your efforts to Eurosport management -- as opposed to the presenters.
If Eurosport is anything like American television, a presenter like Slater would have no control over the programming schedule.

No matter how nice a person he is, I certainly would not pin your hopes on a tweet to Slater as an effective means of making your case (all the more because he has been absent from Twitter since May).

I wish you all the luck in the world, but also would caution that changes to this season's schedule prob. are not feasible. The best-case scenario, IMO, would be that any results of lobbying now would not take effect until at least next season.

Addition to the TV Schedule of Eurosport:

The above stated times are correct. But in Europe ends the Daylight Saving Time on Oct. 26 at 3 am. That means the UK is than GMT and France and Germany is GMT+1.

I did complain during the Grand Prix Series last year about no coverage of the Pairs Short at the TEB & it did then get shown. Also, if International versions of Eurosport get something that British Eurosport don't get, it's worth watching any highlights shown through the night. Last season British Eurosport showed the entire Ladies Short at TEB but earlier had only showed the top 4. It's a shame it takes so much time trying to work out schedules. Eurosport changes theirs so quickly. Especially if the snooker over-runs, which it usually does.

Arrrgh!!!! I thought it was next weekend (i.e. during Skate Canada) that the clocks changed!

It was Hallowe'en being so far into next week that threw me. :rolleye:

On the plus side, at least I won't have to wait another week for my sleep pattern to get half respectable again!

Thank you so much for putting me right, figureskatingfan22. I'll go and amend the wording of my original post now.
