Novice ladies short. It was fun to see the youngin's coming up! Everyone had their strengths and weaknesses, as we all do, but there were three standouts for me. Akari Nakahara has the jumps, the spins and the ice presence. She is lots of fun to watch. Nina Ouellette has great spins and also caught my eye as a comer....Tiny Lily Sun I believe could also be someone to watch for the future....I bet a nickel they make it to nats.....There are quite a few fans here I normally see at nats....and of course great coaches like Igor Shpilband and Todd Sand and I am sure many others. I just stayed for the ladies novice so I could spend an evening this week with my wife...the next three days, I wont be home for dinner! (The place is reasonably warm and the bench seats are softer than wood, and not cold. The hockey shields are up but if one gets the top of five levels of benches one can look over them. The announcer's voice is weak and it is hard to hear the lady's names as their family member erupt when the names are called.) I will try and put a few pics up on photobucket.

Thanks to you and the web, I have the starting orders straight and in my document case now! I will start with the novice pairs tomarrow...I was sitting next to a nice seasoned lady today but she would gasp and let out a little subdued scream every time someone fell so I think I will move.... :)
Thanks, Chris! Have fun!

Hey Rohene Ward's in the house! He's with Tyler Pierce. Makes sense Kori would be at Midwesterns since most of her students are there.

Tyler did a nice job. Went for a 3-3 (might been < 2-footed) but other jumps were clean! So fun to see Rohene in the Kiss and Cry!

Assuming Leah finishes in ahead of Caroline (which is entirely realistic) and the last girl to skate isn't competitive, that last Nationals slot is going to be tight between Caroline and Katarina Kulgeyko eek.

Heck her, Katarina and Camille Davis, who only is 4 points behind. Even Carly Gold could surprise with a good FS.

Shotaro is not skating as well as he could. I can't help but wonder if he's injured or something.

Nathan Chen's going for the gruff hair, LOL. I sort of like the new SP, I think. The transition from toe tapping "Smile" to "Smooth Criminal" is a bit jarring, but I sort of like how Nathan's dancing the moves as he's skating and not just doing a bunch of poses at a standstill.

76+ not bad considering the error on the solo jump and doing only 2A.

Shotaro  I hope he can come back and get a Nationals spot.

Poor guy's having a rough time of it. Last year with not making the finals at JW and now this. :(

Just checked the protocols and saw that Nathan did a 4T! Now that's a surprise. I didn't even realize he was training the jump.

Maybe this will be another case of the quad being easier than the 3A....like Patrick Chan. I couldn't stay up to watch the senior men but hope to watch the archived stuff prior to the FS.
