So in this hypothetical situation the person who predicted

1Machida
2Fernandez
3Hanyu
4Mura
5Kovtun
6Voronov

and a person who predicted

1Fernandez
2Hanyu
3Mura
4Kovtun
5Voronov
6Machida

would both get a perfect score? I understand the confusion.

Yes, in theory. Really the point is if the person W/D's the person's placement would not count regardless of where that person was predicted.

At least we have ample notice of Gracie's withdrawal. I don't think lightning will strike twice with injuries. Hopefully, Rika will take full advantage of the opportunity!!

Thank you for clarifying this. We know what to expect. I imagine it would be not an easy deal for scorers though. Let us hope this stuff will just remain in theory.

By the way, could you update the rules page which is somewhat abandoned ? (close events 5,6, open link to gpf, etc) I guess some people still use that page as a portal to the game.

Done. Sorry I've been bad about updating the page. Been juggling a few things.

FWIW, when we did this last year, the winner was still the poster who led for a majority of the game. Chances are if you have done well up till now, you will likely do okay in this round. In fact having scored these, the overall leaders tend to have more perfect predictions then not. The margin is such because some had those 5 and 10 point predictions to hold on to.

Don't worry I'm taking it easy :) It's like a completely new challenge and I'm looking forward to see all the drama at the end :drama:

Not gonna stress about the results of this round. I'm just happy to have nabbed a couple event golds and and all-round bronze at NHK (I feel like a gymnast, hee), and snuck into the top 24 (hey, I made it to the free program!) This one is just for fun.

Hoping no one else has to withdraw. Poor Gracie, her first GPF, no wonder she was teary.

1. Machida
2. Fernandez
3. Mura
4. Voronov
5. Kovtun
6. Hanyu

(The last time Russia had more than one man in the GPF was 2003!)

1. Radionova
2. Tuktamysheva (but my heart wants her to win--win all the things, Liza!)
3. Pogorilaya
4. Wagner
5. Lipnitskaia
6. Hongo

1. Stolbova/Klimov
2. Duhamel/Radford
3. Kavaguti/Smirnov
4. Sui/Han
5. Peng/Zhang
6. Yu/Jin

1. Chock/Bates
2. Weaver/Poje
3. Papadakis/Cizeron (but my heart wants them to win)
4. Shibutani/Shibutani
5. Ilinykh/Zhiganshin (just about typed Katsalapov, eek)
6. Gilles/Poirier (just about typed Coomes/Buckland, *cries*)

I am not predicting who I think will, before gracie pulled out I though she had a decent chance at winning and Ashley still has a decent shot at medaling, why their pc's are comparable to the young Russians, it only the tes which they make mistakes which hold them down, but not much . why the young Russians skates clean, well, mistakes they are all on even level.

elena is right now on a hot streak -young only 15, knows whats ahead with consequences, pressures all laid out for her.
Julia was like that last year and anna, but what a difference a year makes when people know they can do it, their skating is limitless. Now they both grew up a little getting use to a year later body and all that entails, like growing up, filling, out, more pressures from fans, federations possible sponsors. more they have to think about and the gains and losses that comes with it.

Julia had well prepared short at expense of well prepared long. anna-,good

This goes without saying but at some point, you will have to pick a team for each placement.

Men:

1) Machida
2) Fernandez
3) Hanyu - I hope that he`ll recover a little bit more before GPF. But I`m neary sure, that still won`t be perfect or close to that. Alas.
4) Mura
5) Kovtun
6) Voronov - but I hope that at least he`ll be higher than Kovtun or even medal and that my predictions will be completely wrong))

Ladies

1) Radionova - she looks so consistant...
2) Tuktamysheva - she`s also very consistant, but her content is a little bit easier and programs look outdated, sorry(
3) Lipnitskaya - I think that 3rd and 4th places will go to Yulia and Anna, but Yulia seems to be getiing better as the season passes by, and Anna is a hit or a miss, unfortunately(
4) Pogorilaya
5) Wagner
6) Hongo

Pairs:

1) Stolbova/Klimov
2) Duhamel/Radford - they can easily beat SK, if skate clean, but I have a lot of doubts that they will skate clean
3) Sui/Han
4) Kavaguti/Smirnov - I also don`t believe that they will skate clean
5) Yu/Jin
6) Peng/Zhang

Dance:

1) Weaver/Poje - artistically I prefer CB, but I somehow think that WP deserve this win more. Well, maybe judges will agree with me))
2) Chock/Bates
3) Papadakis/Cizeron
4) The Shibutanis
5) Gilles/Poirier
6) Ilinykh/Zhiganshin

Love Shubutani's and their Free Dance, but afraid this will be decided in Short Dance. Chock and Bates only US Team to get level 4, other than Aldridge and Eaton, in Paso Doble. Dance is going to be a great event.

Well, since my understanding is that the replacement deadline is now passed I thought I'd now put in my final predictions - I have no wish to have to come back and tinker with the predictions; doing them once is traumatic enough! For my own information, I'll note that I seem to be currently in 55th place - noted because I'm sure to forget else, and I want to see just how far I will plummet from - what is sure to seem in retrospect - this glorious eminence. Maybe I shall finally be able to achieve my "ambition" of actually scoring... zero points. Who knows? So! Onward!

As for the song that occurred to me whilst contemplating this round of predictions... well:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgFpHs5dGdg

No, I can't explain. It just did. However, I think it's fairly safe to say that it probably indicates that - to use an expression from another epic - "I have a bad feeling about this.";)

Still, lest anyone should think this is ending on a too gloomy note (though why anyone would think that - what a notion! ;)), here's something else to cheer on my fellow contestants - and also the skaters - For the Win!:):
