Oh, I didn't realise the Swiss Championships were this weekend!

:cheer: All the best to Anna Ovcharova!!! :cheer:

I have to say, I am very impressed with the number of entries in the Singles categories. But, it is very disappointing to see only 1 entry at each level in the Pairs and Dance categories.

And I agree with Nirti that it is good to see Stéphane Walker is still competing. Although he may be a lot older than most of the entries, Stéphane is actually younger than I thought. In fact, he is not even the oldest entry (that honour belongs to Nicolas Dubois).

By the way, the Entry list link Doris posted no longer works, because they have decided to simplify the address. It is now found at:

Hope this helps

Yep. If you go to the Lugano club's results page, there is now a link to the Swiss Federation's results page, which caters for all the levels at the Championships:

http://www.swissiceskating.ch/images/resultate/2014_2015/SM_Elite_2015/index.htm

Pairs Short is first up today at 13:00 CET (i.e. 5 minutes from now), followed by Men's Short at 13:12 CET and Ladies Short at 14:05 CET.

Stéphane Walker still competing? Good!

Looks like Stéphane Walker has withdrawn, I'm afraid. The Men's competition is now down to 5 entries.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST ANNA!!! :cheer:

Hope this helps

Results from today are (finally) up!

Mmmmm. Some surprises so far after the Short Programmes.

Leading the Elite Ladies category is Pittsburg's Eveline BRUNNER with 53.12 points. She is 7 points ahead of Elena OBERHOLZER. Anna OVCHAROVA is a further 2 points behind, but from her down to Matilde GIANOCCA in 8th position is only covered by 3 points.

The biggest surprise is that Tina LEUENBERGER is down in 21st position, with only 29.11 points!

In the Elite Men's, Nicola TODESCHINI is leading by 5 points from Vincent CUÉREL. Then there is a 6 point gap to Noah SCHERER and, less than half a point behind, Tim HUBER. 4 points further back in 5th (and last) is the oldest guy in the competition, Nicolas DUBOIS.

In the Elite Pairs, Alexandra HERBRIKOVÁ / Nicolas ROULET are leading with 34.45. At the bottom are Alexandra HERBRIKOVÁ / Nicolas ROULET with 34.45...

(Yes, they're the only entry! ;) )

So, Anna has to put in a really good performance tomorrow if she wants to climb up a step the podium, and avoid being leap-frogged by any of the 5 girls behind her.

Unfortunately, I think the gold is out of Anna's reach :disapp: Unless, of course, Eveline has a disaster in her FS. But, I wouldn't wish that on anybody.

Let's see what happens tomorrow.

Well, I just had a look at the results, and she did manage to climb up to 2nd overall today!!! :cheer:

Eveline BRUNNER won the Elite Ladies FS by FOURTEEN POINTS to complete her domination of the Championships. Anna was 2nd in the FS, a quarter of a point ahead of Tanja ODERMATT.

The FS top 6 was the same as the overall top 6.

Elena OBERHOLZER, who was 2nd after the SP, had a total disaster in the FS, with 2 falls, 2 under-rotations and a downgrade. She dropped to 9th in the FS, and 7th overall.

In the Elite Men's category, the oldest competitor, Nicolas DUBOIS, did a great job, climbing from 5th (i.e. last) in the SP to 3rd in the FS. This was the only change in the order - the other guys remained in the same order.

Again, the FS top 5 was the same as the overall top 5.

In Elite Pairs, Alexandra HERBRIKOVÁ / Nicolas ROULET unsurprisingly won the FS, and the overall competition. But, they did not make it easy for themselves, having 2 falls.

Who am I kidding? Of course it was easy - they were the only entry!!!

In Elite Dance (which I had hadn't spotted yesterday : ), there was a change from the SP. After the SP, Sandrine-Tabea HOFSTETTER / Jérémie FLEMIN had led by 3 points over Katarina PAICE / Iurii IEREMENKO.

However, PAICE / IEREMENKO won the FS by 0.3 points! I have no idea how they managed to achieve this, as they had THREE FALLS!!! Meanwhile, HOFSTETTER / FLEMIN didn't have any deductions!

Consequently, with their win in the FS being so small, HOFSTETTER / FLEMIN won the Elite Dance overall.

Unfortunately for Anna, Eveline Brunner is 2 months older than her. So, it is not as if she can pinch the Europeans slot due to Eveline being too young.

Oh well! :disapp:

Somehow, I wish the feds would standardize how juniors and seniors are handled, and whether juniors can compete at seniors or not as they wish, but must compete at Jr. Nationals (Russia), whether juniors can compete at seniors, but then can't compete at Juniors nationally but can go to Jr. Worlds(USA, Switzerland), and other weird and strange choices.

I agree :)
The new swiss champion Jérômie Répond will make international beginnings at the Bavarian Open, but I think Odermatt, Rüegger or Nicodet have more chances to be sent to Junior Worlds. And for the men, it's clear that Nicola Todeschini will go.
