Thoughts

Ladies:

1. Daleman ( usually skates well at nationals )
2. Chartrand ( better internationally this year but sometimes struggles at nats )

3. Deguise Leveilee ( the most consistent of the JGP ladies this year )

4. Mallet ( has struggled this season )

5. Dunley ( no way will SC make the jump challenged Rheault who has only a toe and an iffy flip get national funding )

Men:

1. Reynolds ( Put him here now after hearing he has fixed his skate problem )

2. Nguyen

3. Ten ( a bit sentimental I know but his programs clearly mean something deep to him )

4. Balde ( will have too many quality errors for podium )

5. Sadovsky ( unless Firus lands a triple axel - there will be more of a push to give him the funding )

Other thoughts - Firus could finish 3rd if and only if he shows a triple axel ( I have my doubts there ). Rogozine usually bombs nationals. I can see Belley getting senior B's next year ( he at least has a fairly consistent triple axel )

Dance:
W/P
G/P
P/O (If they can stay close in the short they will take 3rd in the free and move up)
P/I (too many little slip ups here and there)
B/M (if they can get back to their early season form)

I don't see Orford/Williams making top 5 . One ( or both ) of B/M or Edwards/Pang will beat them. The hard part of predicting the 5th spot is that we don't know what the senior SD's of B/M or Edwards/Pang look like.

Pairs

1. Duhamel/Radford
2.Luba ILLYUSHESHKINA / Dylan MOSCOVITCH
3. Julianne SÉGUIN / Charlie BILODEAU
4. Kirsten MOORE-TOWERS / Michael MARINARO
5. Natasha PURICH / Drew WOLFE

Now that Kevin Reynolds is equipped with boots that fit, better training and confidence, is anybody going to revise their predictions?

Kevin Reynolds has a history of inconsistency going back several years, so it's always difficult to predict how he will do. Sometimes he skates well, other times he makes multiple errors.

Look at his successful results at Worlds & Four Continents a few years ago, and look at how much lower he has finished on other occasions. It tends to fluctuate back & forth a lot.

Come on, stop bringing him down. There are a few articles and he did a conference call which is what the articles are based on.

Kevin was the quad king of the figure skating world and all about jumps. His competitive results of course would not reach the highest rank and was dependent on the success of the jumps. But he started focusing and was much improved on artistry and other PCS aspects, becoming quite expressive with his unique choices of music. Unfortunately soon his skate issue brought him very inconsistent results before sidetracking him entirely. Now that the skate problem is resolved and he has been able to train well, I expect him to do much much better and consistently. It is a question of whether he will have trained and prepared sufficiently by the Nationals, especially with his ambitious number of quads, five in total. If he is able to perform almost cleanly, he will surely be the Canadian champion this year.

I have links of articles about the news of the fixed boot issues in the fan fest thread for him. If you want to check them out that is.

I definitely feel more confident in him. Though that's not going to stop me from being nervous for him lol.

He has a bigger chance now. If Kevin can land 5 quads in the competition, then Nam is going have to worry.
