And now we know that Liam officially is going to both Four Continents and Worlds :dance2:, per the Skate Canada announcement. Very excited for him.

This makes me so happy! I actually wondered if they would make the second Worlds spot a "wait and see at 4CCs." (I am especially surprised that Kevin Reynolds is going to 4CCs - not my favorite skater, but I love seeing successful comebacks from serious injuries. Makes me hopeful about whatever is going on with Joshua Farris right now.)

I wondered if Orser was going to make a case for Nam to go to 4CCs and if he skated well, go to Worlds instead of Firus for the "3 spots" argument. But I think there are apparently enough issues with Nam that it would have been very hard for him and Patrick to get the magic number 13 for 2017 anyway. So, I'm glad that Skate Canada went with Nationals results for 4CCs/Worlds.

Warm-up at 12:49:10 local time.

Liam skates at 13:05:00, after Ross Miner.

Go, Liam :yay:. Same to Ross and all the men.

Mini-vid from the stands during the Pairs FS on Saturday: Liam, Max, Ross, and Madi Chock all smiles as they wave to the camera.

Friday had been a rough day on the ice for all three men, so it is great to see that they are looking relaxed and in good spirits.

Sorta bummed out for Liam for his performance at 4CCs this weekend. Here's the latest tweet from Liam about 4CCs:

Such a disappointing week for me. Sorry everyone. Definitely not what I've trained so hard for. 😔

Below are links to his programs. I didn't see them posted anywhere earlier yet.
Firus' 4CC SP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsYxnSzFfqM
Firus' 4CC FS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKasRm71nz0

I wonder where Damon was this weekend - aren't all of his other students basically done competing for this season? Maybe only Christy went because she had other skaters here that only have her as a coach.

Here's to hoping that in Boston, Liam will perform the great performances that we know he can do. I've seen chatter that Firus shouldn't be going to Worlds, but I wonder how much the "Nationals fatigue" affected some of the Americans and Canadians at 4CCs this weekend. Or is that a reasonable explanation?

I still think that Patrick and Liam are still Canada's two best men for Worlds. Reynolds and Nam still have some improvements to make for next season and Liam did great at Canadian Nationals. I don't think that for the men, Canada was every going to do better or worse than keeping 2 spots for next year anyway.

Instagram watch: I believe this is Liam skating by the boards with Damon Allen at the end of this video posted by Angela Wang (angelawangster): https://www.instagram.com/p/BClKSuxQc37/. It could be someone else - I believe Christy/Damon must have some sort of monopoly on dark brown haired lean male skaters.

So, I know that Christy/Damon usually team up and coach the same skaters as a team - do one of them focus on different things - is Christy more the technician and Damon more about packaging? Or are they both overall coaches and their individual lessons are just about scheduling? Just wondered.

Anyway, so excited and crossed fingers to see how well Liam does at Worlds in Boston later this month!

He is indeed classy, but this whole situation has made me very sad. I do hope he fully realizes many of us did want to see him at Worlds.

I too am sad.
It gives me a bit of comfort that Liam continues to receive TCC votes. Since the addition of the "Withdrawn" notation to the ballot, Liam's vote count has gone up by two or three thousand. A sign that he still is remembered and appreciated.

I wonder whether Liam will want to attend Worlds as a spectator -- to give support esp. to Kirsten.
If he wants to go, he certainly can hold his head high, and I hope that he will cross paths occasionally with fans who will be happy to wish him well and show him some love.
(Of course, if he does not want to attend, I would totally understand. Not saying that he should do anything that would feel awkward.)

Very nice of him to go to Boston to support Kirsten and Michael; Patrick and Nam; and other Canadian and non-Canadian friends.

From a Patrick's interview:

Nam Nguyen of Toronto is Canada's other entry. Liam Firus earned the second spot on the team, but stepped down in favour of Nguyen, who has had better results internationally, including a fifth-place finish at last year's worlds. The world results determine how many skaters Canada can enter in next year's worlds, which in turn determine the entries for the Olympics.

"(Firus) wasn't selfish and really thought about the men's team and the benefit and what he could do to make the team stronger for the Olympics, and the next world championships," Chan said. "It's just proof of how great Canadians are at being sportsmen and thinking not only about themselves but the rest of the team and the benefit of the country."

Liam and Jamie Wright are shown in a new Instagram from elladjbalde:

Liam had tweeted his excitement about starting a new chapter and about being back training in Canada ... so it's all adding up that (not surprisingly) Montreal is his new locale.
