Glad to see the Mengs. I really like them.

Two new Chinese pairs! Anyone have info on them?

I don't know much about the new Russian ladies at this event. Initial impressions are it's a pretty good draw for Amber Glenn. I would really like to see her skate to her potential and get to the JGP final this year. I do believe that she has that potential if she can conquer nerves.

I like Diana Nikitina a lot too.

I don't know if this is a "great draw" for Glenn - IMO, it is a tougher field than Slovakia. Sakamoto's got a higher PB than Glenn, and it was set last year vs Amber's from two seasons ago. Aoki, Soloviova, and Fedichkina are all newcomers to the JGP this year but competed very well in arguably the two deepest fields in the world. Aoki is the Japanese novice champ; Soloviova is the novice silver medalist (behind Gubanova) and Fedichkina was the top finisher at Russian nationals that isn't one of the wonder novices or a JGP competitor (she also out scored Glenn at her Nationals, with a junior level program - not a direct comparison, I know). Glenn has experience and maturity on her side, but she's not consistent either. I think it will depend on whoever skates best that day.

Not sure if it is a good draw for Amber because I don't know how she skates. Feditchkina and Solovieva are newly eligible and therefore we don't know how they will manage the pressure of international competition. but they do have a decent technical content.

At the Russian junior nationals Feditchkina's technical content:
SP: 3F-3T, FCSp4, StSq3, 1Lz, 2A, CCoSp3, LSp3, No fall, but the singled Lutz was costly mistake!
FS: 2A, 3F-3T, 3Lz, FCSp4, LSp4, 2A-3T-2T, 3F-2T, 3Lo, 3S, CCoSp3, StSq2. No falls

At the Russian junior B nationals Solovieva's technical content:
SP: 3Lz, 3Lo-3T, FCSp4, StSq3, 2A, CCoSp3, LSp4 - No falls
FS: 3Lo-3T,, 3F, 3Lz-2T, FSSp4, CCoSp3, StSq2, 2A-1Lo-3S, 3Lz (fall), 3Lo, 2A, LSp3.

I think you are right.
Among all these girls, probably Amber is the most mature and musical one I assume
though the consistency is her biggest enemy.
On the other hand, the quality of Sakamoto's jumping is just superb,
but she still skated too juniorish last season.

One of the key elements for the prediction on JGP is the required solo jump, and it is Flip this year,
which means that many of top contenders will perform, for SP, the jump layout of

3Lz+3T, 3F and 2A

Sakamoto does have 3Lz+3T, and Amber did land one during FP at one of her last year's JGP.
Aoki does 3Lz+3Lo, but not have been tested by the international judges.

I have not seen the performances by Soloviova and Fedichkina,
but judging with their jumping layouts of last year, thanks to hanca,
it seems that 3Lutz is not very strong jump for them.
Probably Solovieva is going to do 3Lo+3T, 3F and 2A.

This is the video of Marin Honda & Yuna Aoki from the Junior Nationals where they were invited to compete
because their 2nd and 1st finish @Novice Nationals.

https://youtu.be/0QypDH1zfUk

Honda's starts @2:10 and Aoki's starts @8:50

Can Amber compete with them?
Of course yes if she hits all of her jumps.

Well, it is not going to be easy.
Japan will send the stronger team than last year definitely,
and Russians are probably strong as last year.

I predict we will see 3 Russian girls and 3 Japanese girls @JGP finals like last year.
However, in order to move up to the senior level, Amber needs better WS and SB,
which means she likes to get into the finals and top 6 finish @Junior Worlds.
And that means she needs to medal here, preferably gold or silver.

Can she do it?
Of course if she hits all her jumps.
We will see.

Not just not a direct comparison, but Glenn also absolutely tanked at her nationals FS. But as you say, her consistency will be tested here. If she can skate the way she practices, the rest of the field will have a hard time keeping up with her. But, as with many skaters (and teenagers!!), that's a huge if.

Bear in mind that Glenn changed her program at the last possible moment before Nationals, an incredible dumb thing to do. No wonder she tanked!

She also just appears to have headcase issues... this is not the first time this has happened. :(

I think she will.
According to the report from the recent Russian test skate, Maria did well.
If she hits all her jumps, she will win this.
Other main competitors are

Fedichkina from Russian, who also performed well at the test skate
Aoki and Sakamoto from Japan
Da Bin from Korea
Amber from US

Aoki did not do well @the recent Asian open

https://youtu.be/a10WIXvhPEE
https://youtu.be/i9ABcrgnDMs

She totally bombed her SP, but you still cannot deny her talent.

Sakamoto also bombed her SP @the same competition, but her FP was decent.

https://youtu.be/Yr2n1B0Qe5U

Assuming this slow piece of music was given to her in order to improve her artistry,
she still moves very junior-ishly and also this program kills her strength like speed and power.
hope it will develop well as the season progresses.

Da bin skated well @Korean test skate, at least technically.

https://youtu.be/B2EylOwFHa4
https://youtu.be/KjFXlD6yg4w

No doubt, she is the best jumper that Korea has now,
but she still does not have any connection with music at all.
Korea seriously needing one other decent female skater to be sent to the next Olympic game which will take place in Korea.
They should consider to send her to US or Canada to develop her quality of performance, PCS-sides.
I can see that she and her teams are trying, but it is just not working fast enough.

Fedichkina is a lovely skater.

https://youtu.be/22fIE7eLfG4

But after watching so many good Russian girls, I do not find anything particularly stands out from her.
Still I think she can medal here.

I do not find any new/recent information on Amber.
If she skates clean or almost clean, she can finish as high as second here,
but if she skates like last year she can be 6th or lower.
I hope she had a good off season training, and some mental training as well.

Excited to see Justine Brasseur skate (Isabelle Brasseur's niece)! Often we see siblings, but its interesting to have cousins competing on the JGP circuit in the same discipline.
