I am posting this even before the results of the 2015 Thornhill (Central Ontario) Summer Skate, since I am so taken by this new ice dancing pair.

I cannot believe a couple who has been together for this short a period has such chemistry and flow. I'm in love.:love: Cmon Nicole and Asher, build on this and make that Canadian Worlds team.:cheer:

I've always been a Hill fan. So happy to see him back on the ice! He and Orford have such a refined look together. Very delicate and sweet-looking. Even from those YouTube videos, it seems like they have a good connection. Very excited to see how these two kids do this year :)

So glad to see that others are excited:cheer: I came late to the party, as I did not follow Asher with his previous partner, but these programs even at a summer comp on YouTube make me want to see more.

I am hoping that they will at least get some senior Bs. I wonder if the TBD spot at Skate Canada is too much to hope for?

I always liked both Asher and Nicole in their previous partnerships, but they look better than ever with each other! I hope they will get some international assignments! What a great debut!

They're better than their programs, which are pleasant and forgettable. Here's hoping they get better material going forward. They have a lovely presence on the ice.

No Skate Canada (went to Paradis/Ouellette, who have been around a little longer, as a team;) ).

Let's keep the faith for a Senior B/Challenger!:cheer:

An excellent profile of Nicole and Asher, with plenty of quotes, from the blog "Two for the Ice"

Difficult to believe that the FD at Thornhill was only the 5th time they skated it? And that both almost quit before pairing with each other. Hope we have more chances to see the program, and Nicole and Asher, develop.

Lovely, lyrical skate by Nicole & Asher: First place after the SD at the Autumn Classic!:cheer:

Let's hope that somewhere among the 53,000 shots of Yuzu, I can find a vid of the program:laugh2:

Fantastic debut, they got 92.07 for the FD and won very handily. Hopefully they can get another assignment, I really like this team and hope they'll do well. If they can do one of the later Challengers, they should get the Worlds SD TES minimum that they just missed here, and raise their personal best so they can get a GP next season.

^^^Thanks for the info about the TES minimum, so glad to hear. I also am hoping that they will get one of the later Challenger slots, just so I can see those programs again (although if they keep this up, and skate like this at Canadian Nats, dare I hope for Worlds?)

They were only 0.60 points off from the SD minimum, so I have no doubt they'll get it later. Worlds won't be easy, but it's a definite possibility. Their PCS went from all 6s in the SD to all 7s in the FD, so another competition could be very beneficial to their scores and help them build some reputation. Even if they don't make Worlds this year they're off to a fantastic start.

So the protocols show they didn't only meet the FS minimum, they CRUSHED it!

http://skatecanada.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/aci-2015_senior-dance_fd_scores.pdf

48.47!! For perspective, that's only .2 less than what Gilles and Poirier earned at Nepala and well above the 42+ earned by Paul and Islam at Nebelhorn and even above the 44+ earned by Weaver and Poje.

And among all ice dance teams, they rank No. 3, behind Chock and Bates and G&P. Impressive FD debut, guys!
