I have a list of about ten programs that I will go and re-watch when I feel like watching skating, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who does this! But, since I'm new, my list is pretty short. So, for future reference, what are your top ten programs you think we should all watch?

A spinoff of the book 1,000 Places to See Before You Die.

If anyone actually listed 1,000 programs, I would die of shock before I even got to watch any of them. :laugh2:

Moriel has made a list of all the programs suggested on page 7. Check that out for all your browsing needs!

Great idea :)

maybe together we can get 1000 programms ;) That would be an indredible collection of awesome progams

I'll start then:

1. Tango de Roxanne - Yuna Kim
I've never seen such polished and mature skating combined with technical difficulty by a 16 year old. Also props for being arguably the best competitor (mind of steel) of this era.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vh-850kqJoE

2. O - Akiko Suzuki
Creative and unusual choreography skated lights out.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOuaUMgFOcg

3. Dark Eyes - Sasha Cohen
Sasha knew how to work the crowd. And her lines - OMG.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELFerA2QZX8

4. Spanish Flamenco - Virtue/Moir
Enjoyable also for those who're not familiar with the Little Details of Ice Dance. They had the chemistry.
unfortunatly, I didn't find their Olympic OD on Youtube, therefore the worlds version:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6A_dtezybzM

5. Four Seasons - Patrick Chan
Best Skating Skills of all time. Technically four seasons was Patricks most challenging program. He skated this program cleanly only once:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmazFXN8DWI

6. Chopin Ballade in C minor - Hanyu
Hanyu's movements were polished and he felt the Music. Combined with highly difficult technical Content.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVlaDyTObkI

7. Io si saro - Pang/Tong
Very emotional pairs Team, that has the ability to touch ones heart.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ah67teUKSTQ

8. Rachmanioff no. 02 - Mao Asada
An 8 triples program skated by a balletic skater at the Olympics. What more to ask for?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAp0jv2XpFo

9. Give me Love by E. Sheeran - Joshua Farris
His feel for Music and rhythm is extraordinary. Internationally highest sp score for an US man.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FyUIfXKyHI

10. Winter - Alexei Yagudin
He was a dancer and when he got the technical Content together, this program is able to impress even after neraly 15 years.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6A_dtezybzM

All those programs combine great artistry with difficult elements. I also made sure that the video links links to the best performances with the least mistakes. Of course there are more great programms by Plushenko for example or Michelle Kwan, but I'm not so much an expert on their best performances of their best programs, therefore I leave it for the following posters to complement.

hey what do you guys think about giving out numbers to the programs -

then invisiblespiral would have posted programs 21-30

actualrealiveanna 31-40

psusanne 41-50

samm22 51-60

and androchmache: programm number 61 ;)

That way we could keep track on how many programms have already been posted and when we are at 1000 ;)

Early Michelle Kwan, 1996 to 1998 has so much. Her first Wc Salome at age 16. Lyra Angelica in 1998 nationals and her silver medal at Nagano are the teenagers Zenith for me. She has many more. Kwan students must see her mid career song of the black swan and finally her last great program and superb skate. Tosca at Us Nationals.

These are competitive programs but Michele has exhibitions and pro am comps where she is enchanting while doing perfect triples as well.

Others one must watch include Lamento Dariane no sure about the spelling. Her short hair phase was filled with beautiful skates. She just kind of oozed the essence of who she became on the ice.

I feel I have to mention the two worth opponents who won gold for exciting fast free skating. Tara Lipinski was a child prodigy winning at fourteen the Oly Gold as we know. For pure excitement and the kiss and cry screams of joy it is a wonderful joyous triumph for a tiny girl who had these long mature arms. She was something. And for another fun upset with total abandon Sarah Hughes Olympic gold medal performing two triple triples making history although 2002 was before people were hammered for urs or edge calls. Still she had nothing to lose in 4th place and surprised herself. Again the moment she realizes she won is an iconic coach student moment to laugh at a bit and share the joy of this fiery teenage.

To me the spirit these three champions have shown on ice is very rare. Since them for women the stellar competitions for me all involve Asada and Suzuki. Of Japan, Joanie Rochette of Canada for her sophistication, the best thing out of Russia for me with her already iconic Schindlers list Julia Lipnitskaia, and from Italy the mature Carolina Kostner is peerless for line and elegance. The last few years before she retired were amazing regardless of any mistake.

These are just the ladies that have made indelible impressions with one or several indelible programs. And of course Yuna Kim who sadly retired completely. Her very last show was so emotional and the artistry so good I was so sad she did not push the artistry and continue perfecting lines etc. Yuna's sp Send in the Clowns is Yuna at her most mature and elegant and an iconic Sochi moment.

Hmmm all ladies. Somehow it seems this topic deserves 4 disciplines but ladies skating was the jewel in the crown for me and where the most beauty could be found. Under 6.0 anyway. Now Ice dance has truly beautiful ice skating.

I'd love To see a ten best ice dance list. Sorry if I miss some crazy auto fill ins. I've got to see how to turn that off on this iPad. Plus wear my glasses! ( no fun getting old lol).

Fun idea for a thread. I don't know that I could come up with a 1000 but 100 probably wouldn't be out of the question! ;)Some of the choices already mentioned, like Alexei Yagudin's “Winter” program are certainly on my list. But I had so many come to mind so I tried to pick ones that weren't already mentioned.

I think this is a good idea. Once we get to 1000, we could collect them all, discard the repeats, and write a book. ;) (I actually would do something like that.)

Weather gal thanks for that reminder of the exquisite skater Paul Wylie. He was the best of the best. He will forever be among my top male skaters and certainly of the 6.0 era. Like victor Petrenko he had a stellar pro career in the golden days. His line totally stretched makes him the most elegant skater for me of his generation - of male skaters anyway doing singles.

Thanks skateluvr--very glad you liked it! I know what you mean about his extension. And the Ina Bauer and spread eagle he does in that program...

Sounds like a good idea! I believe we're at around 91, if I did my counting correct. Perhaps everyone from here on out, instead of numbering their favorites 1-10, could number them from after the last posters? So, the next person to post would number their's 92-101 (terrible way of explaining that wow).

John Curry - Don Quixote (1976 OG)

1. Plushenko - Tribute To Nijinsky
2. Daisuke Takahashi - Blues For Klook
3. Yuzuru Hanyu - R&J1
4. Alexander Abt - Artsakh
5. Rudy Galindo - Swan Lake
6. Anissina/Peizerat - Carmina Burana
7. Stephane Lambiel - Poeta
8. Johnny Weir, Melissa Gregory, Denis Petukhov - Fallen Angels
9. Plushenko - Asisai
10. Klimova/Ponomarenko - A Man & A Woman

The OP didn't specify no exhibitions, so I had to include 2 which were pretty groundbreaking and unique. And I can't believe I picked 2 ice dance programs as it's my least favorite discipline, but the programs I chose are so great, imo, that they transcend the label. I still had to leave out a lot of worthy selections & skaters, but I'm happy with my choices.
