Not that I didn't like Alisa, actually loved her. She is like a more extroverted version of Lipnitskaya. Agree with those people saying that Alisa and Yuna are the future of the sport. Hope they survive puberty.

That is a very apt description! All the hand gestures very much reminded me of Yulia's SP from the Olympic season. I thought Alisa had very lovely musicality and has nice flow for her young age.

I loved Masha's program. She was so gracious and mature! I think her pcs should be much higher than what she got. Hers are at par with Polina and I just cannot compare the two in terms of skating skills and musicality. So far Polina is about jumps - Maria is a beautiful allround skater and unfortunately it was not reflected in the scores. Alisa was wonderful as well although a little childish. Of course, she is so young. She does not remind Yulia at all - Gubanova - that's whom she reminds: it is going to be an interesting competition between them next year.

Amazed at Aoki's 3lz3loop combo (ha so it CAN be done!).... she skate like a possible future champion... interesting to see how she will turn out by seniors. It is kind of funny, I really do see how she has aspects to her skating influenced by the best of the Asian veterans.

Never seen Alisa before! Amazed. Perfectly Charming, pretty skating. It is everything you'd expect from Junior ice princess program including the book endeded cheesiness miming/pantomine. Just have to skate pretty and not particularly deep, but then may be that is all you need at this level. Mandatory kiss to the judges... just add dying on ice, winking, big artificial winner smile finish or type b/ claws in the air gasping for passion with an constipated look would complete her Russian authenticity. Who knows, may be she will prove me wrong. Not surprised she backloaded the program... I think it could be common theme this season especially with the Russians contenders, 3T in the 2nd half for bonus points.

Thank you for this info. I was horrified when when saw her height on isu bio. So she might be 163? Was she wearing skates when the picture was taken?

By the way, Maria's SO not 170 cm. I took a picture with her today and I'm 170 - and she was visibly smaller - about 165 or so.

Alisa is a lovely skater indeed, but her jumps are depending heavily on fast rotation, and in the crowded Russian lady's field, I don't think she can go very far.

I thought it was a shame that Yuna popped that axel! Her program was so gorgeous and that triple lutz triple loop! Respect! She at least would have been in front of Kaori if not Maria had she not had that mistake on the axel...Alisa is a nice skater, but her maturity level comes off much younger (and rightfully so) but to be honest I didn't really understand her program. She has decent musicality but I just didn't get the choreography...anyway just me...I really liked Maria's program! It had much more personality than her programs last year! I think her pcs should have been higher! Even with the level 2 spin I would have put her in front of Alisa...the maturity was just far more than anyone but Yuna or Amber really. I'm excited for the free! Hopefully Maria can pull ahead and Yuna can get up to the podium!

Like Medvdeva and Serafima, Alisa doesn't have a true lutz (at least it's not an obvious flutz like those two cases) but the judges ignored it. Both russian girls were so pretty and artistic, but imo Masha deserved to be on top.

Her coach is a very good jump specialist, so it is way too early to reach such conclusion.

It is more than 6 points between them so I do not see that she could be ahead of Maria even with the perfect axel (unless it is 3A).

I think they're following the mindset of a clean, full-element program would also garner slightly higher PCS. Yuna got 2.05-5.65 lower PCS than the four skaters above her, none of which popped anything IIRC.

eta: at least, this is what I assumed samm22 to have meant

Yes she has issues with the lutz edge, but I watched it in slow mo and it was an outside edge.

That's still pretty tall for a skater. It's probably better that she's not 170 cm at 15, she might still grow a bit more. Anyways she has a picture with Adelina on instagram, both in flat shoes, Adelina is 163 cm or a bit less, and Mariya is taller but only by about 3 cm or so. So 165 cm sounds right. That's a good height, tall enough to have that commanding presence on the ice but not so tall that the jumps are scary. Queen Yuna is 165 cm. I'm always skeptical about the heights on the Russian bios anyways, since I don't think Liza is 157 cm nor Julia 160 cm, they both seem shorter. Pogorilaya is clearly one of the tallest Russian girls competing these days and she is only around 165-167 cm, and she literally looks huge next to Liza and Julia.

Here is her instagram page. https://instagram.com/p/5LF176DX2K/?taken-by=m_a_r_i_y_

She has the proportions of someone taller than 163 cm, and she is taller than Ashley Wagner in skates while she wears sneakers https://instagram.com/p/5LF176DX2K/?taken-by=m_a_r_i_y_, so I think she is more than 163 cm (Ashley is 160 cm), but unlikely a full 170 cm. In sneakers she may be close to 170 cm but barefoot she's probably around 165, maybe a little more.
