Deniss looks scared. Jumps weren't on his side today. Many twofoots and falls on the triple axel, 3Lz+3T did just twice, the first one was nice, second had wobbly landing. He did the FS, but afterwards skated some moves from SP and it looks gorgeous! And he's bringing back his I-spin which also looks great.

:hopelessness: I hope he is just getting acclimated after not competing for months and will do well tomorrow. I'll be so sad if he can't make the podium at his home competition.

catchie - did you get to see Dmitry Aliev, Petr Gumennik or Alexei Krasnozhon at all? Thank you for your updates!

Petr and Dmitri were in the same warmup group as Deniss, so I didn't pay MUCH attention to them, but Petr is SOOO tiny and cute! Very good 3Lz+3Lo (one was tano. or both) and his presentation is on point! Fell I think two times in the combo I mentioned, but otherwise good. Dmitri fell a lot but did some nice quad toes. Alexei did his SP which was very entertaining with 3A, 3Lz+3T and 3F. Did the axel numerous times during the practice, sometimes fell. Axel looks a bit unpolished, but it's ok.

So it sounds like everyone had some issues...I guess that's good and bad. I honestly don't know who to predict for the podium here, but I think it will be a great competition!

Dmitry talks about his programs and jump layouts in this new interview:

I wonder if Alexei is going to attempt his 4lo here! (in the FS, I mean)

 We'll see.... Loop has a risk to be UR anyway, but a quad? I don't know the quality of his 3Lo, but I hope it's great technique, or I suspect it will get <, regardless of how consistent he can get it.

Ditto.

This kid might be the only U.S. medalist here. Or he could do an Amber, where he has potential but can't live up to it here.
