Yes thanks Katmari!

I remember Kori talking about the puzzle that was Tyler and that her new programs were deliberately difficult to encourage growth. Perhaps it was too uncomfortable. Or, maybe it will turn out that she hasn't left.

Tyler's programs weren't too uncomfortable for her...she's one of the strongest, hardest working skaters I've ever seen...she doesn't back down from a challenge.

It's worth noting that the short program that Tyler skated at glacier falls was very, very out there... And that out of the main Koro skaters, I always felt Tyler was lower priority to them than Jason, Mariah, and jordan.... Awkward though, they were in so many smiling photos, and Tyler had a pretty successful last season with Kori.

It may be "out there" but I *loved* that short program. It suited her sooo well. Of course I'm a fan of things that are different and push boundaries :) Tyler and Rohene share a similar aesthetic and sense of fashion and fun...and I feel this program really tapped into that.

I--personally--don't feel she was given lower priority...but it was--in ways--a bit of a challenging summer for everyone (lots of coaches traveling) and it's worth remembering that Jason, Mariah, and Jordan are significantly older, more mature, and more independent (thus more able to train independently as well as make decisions more independently of their parents) than Tyler.

Soo.... What happened? =(

I don't know--it was their personal decision and I'm not sure what all went into it. My guess is her parents just did what they thought was best for her as parents tend to do. I sooo hope it works out for her. Tyler is an awesome girl with such amazing drive and work ethic...I really felt like she was just starting to get to a really good place mentally where she could do some real growing as a skater. I hope that growth continues regardless of where she ends up training.

ETA--honestly I'm as surprised as you all...one week she was working with one of our competition readiness week guests on her short program choreography, we were hearing they'd received first looks at her new short program dress, and they'd just bought a house here...and then a few weeks later they had decided to leave :(

I'm glad you asked, AromaticChicken, I wanted to know as well, but was too timid to actually ask.;)

So my complete, based on absolutely *nothing*, speculation: Tyler is not "college" age, and "boarding" is tough for a teen. Her family was looking to move to support her. But with the growth of 7k, and Kori being only one person, the parents look at the financials (I don't blame them, they have to.) Is Tyler getting enough of Kori's action to support this investment of moving? (I believe Kori said something during her TSL interview about skaters needing to have faith in the 7k team, and not just her? ) Parents think Tyler can do just as well at home. And so .... Again, simple wild a$$ guess on my part.

But to be totally crass, if they have already paid for Rohene's choreo, they should keep it. Other skaters train elsewhere, but use Rohene programs .... This is a puzzlement.

The fact they dropped Rohenes program makes me suspect that it's a little more complicated.

Also, Kori isn't just one person. She's pulled in a jump specialist (vincent), Rohene also coaches and leads lots of classes, and I believe they also have access to other coaches as well. It's a full program, not too different in size at the moment than what, say, Frank Carroll or Rafael has set up.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Koris program is more built out than what many coaches have to offer, given the schedules we've seen with daily class, Friday performances, off ice, etc. I don't get the impression that it's any less good than what David glynn or Tammy have set up.

I agree, but also think it could just be that with her not with them anymore, it was not ready, or her new old coach was not familiar enough with it to work with her on it so last minute. I also do want to point out that Tammy wash her old coach, and seems to be again, so it seems Tyler has left coaches on good terms before, so it is possible she did so this time.

I actually agree that the program in some ways is more built up than some in that they have so much in house. One thing about smaller towns is sometimes you have to do that and be self-sufficient. Just having someone like Rohene their full time is great. However, some people like one on one attention. If Tyler's parents want to pay for one on one, they should get what they want/pay for - and sometimes that means changes. Kori may be more than one person, but they may only want one person. The system may just not be the right fit for everyone.

It would not surprise me quite frankly if some people do leave now that they are at full/near full capacity. Realistically the dynamic is is going to be different know than when it was at less than half capacity. Tyler as an example, joined when only Mariah Bell was there (or possibly right around the same time or earlier) so only one other senior lady, this year they have gained two more in senior ladies alone. In fairness that is a different dynamic than what they signed up for, and a pretty quick change. Growing pains are to be expected. I for one will still root Tyler and just like all of team Koro.

I really don't know or want to speculate exactly what all went into the decision...I just know that it wasn't one that Tyler made alone...her parents played a large role in it. I am surprised she went back to Tammy since there was a very definite reason they left her in the first place. 7K does have a good team of coaches now...but perhaps they were looking for more of Kori's time in particular.

I really hope they do keep Rohene's choreo! They've worked so hard on it and it's such a great program for Tyler!
