I don't get Sotskova's FS either. The costume is very distracting to me and the choreo is so boring. Too bad for her. As with the Japanese girls I have to admit that I like Marin Honda best by far. Hope she will make it to the final as I would have the chance to see her in person at Barcelona. Notably her skating/stroking is so pure and I love her fluidity.

Congrats to the lovely Sotskova! It's great as her fan to see her happy, confident and injury free.

I also saw Sotskova's UR on replay. Somehow the tech panel dismissed it this time. The reason for the outcry? Don't think so - she was still the best. Strange that no one here noticed Nathan's pre-rotationon on 3A at the last GP. Or on the contrary, this is not strange at all?

As for jumping, Wakaba had some edge last year. But with Polina around it makes no sense to argue who is "The Jumper" among the current juniors.

Sotskova won by a 3 point margin. Her 3t actually deserved a downgrade, it missed more than a half revolution. Her second 3lz was definitely UR. So no, Sotskova didn't deserve to beat Mihara.
But guess what, russians always get the benefit of "doubt", even when there is absolutely no doubt. Serafima and Medvedeva have complete flutzes, but they got away with them many times, including in the junior worlds sp when Medvedeva got a 68.

But the thing is there was no doubt! Sotskova's 3T and second 3LZ were clearly UR...... I like her but I wish the judges would be fair with the scoring.

Except that Mihara deserved an edge call or two... and while I agree the 3T is borderline downgradable, I completely disagree that the 2nd 3Lz was over a quarter turn short.

She changes her edge very quickly before the take off, that's why sometimes her lutz doesn't look like a real lutz, but if you look closely, in slowmotion you can see her changing into the outside edge. But even with some !, a downgrade and an ur are still much more costly.

She was underscored... :disapp:

But anyway, great comeback!

That program should have received at least 120. The first combo was just amazing, after the disaster SP she wasn't playing around. I don't mine the program she skates it well enough but, her face lacks expression and while that doesn't seem to hurt some skaters is does hurt her. She is just 14 so maybe she will learn to deal with it or we will learn to deal with it. She is a power skater.

Sotskova was not the only one who didn't get UR calls here.
