Ice dancers Alisa Agafonova & Alper Uçar represent Turkey. Agafonova was born 15 January 1991 in Kharkiv, Ukraine, while Uçar was born 19 January 1985 in Denizli, Turkey. The two are the first Turkish skaters to be invited to skate at a Grand Prix event, 2015 Tropheé Éric Bompard. They are also the first Turkish ice dancers to compete at the Olympics. The team retired, following the 2017-18season.

Before the two teamed up, Alisa previously competed for Ukraine with Dmitri Dun, qualifying twice for the Junior Grand Prix Final, and finishing as high as seventh at Junior Worlds. Alper was the 2005 Turkish Senior Men's Champion, and was four times the Turkish Junior Men's Champion.

I just love their programs and lines

They have got -2 music requirement deduction in the FD. Alper told us on facebook that they're going to change the second part of the program. I don't know anything about music requirements in ice dance, I don't get what was wrong.

It is because there was no change in tempo. Someone explained it on another thread really well but I can't find which thread now, of course :scowl:

ETA found it:

According to Rule 610 paragraph 1.c): the music for Free Dance must be suitable for Ice Dance as a sport discipline and must have the following characteristics:

i) The music must have an audible rhythmic beat and melody, or audible rhythmic beat alone, but not melody alone, and may be vocal. The music may be without an audible rhythmic beat for up to 10 seconds at the beginning or end of the program and up to 10 seconds during the program.

ii) The music must have at least one change of tempo and expression. This change may be gradual or immediate, but in either case it must be obvious.

iii) All music including classical music must be cut/edited, orchestrated or arranged in a way that it creates an interesting, colorful, entertaining dance program with different dance moods or a building effect.

iv) The music must be suitable for the couple's skating skills and technical ability.

-2.0 points deduction

Referee together with the Judges Panel decides on violations of music requirements. The corresponding deductions are applied according to the opinion of the majority of the Panel which includes all the Judges and the Referee and no deduction in case of a 50:50 split vote).
The Judges and Referee will press a button on their screen to apply the above mentioned deductions.

Thanks for sharing tulosai!

That movie they are portraying has a very sad end, but I guess they will make it happier with the change of second part of program.

I just yesterday did a collage joking about all the hugs in their programs : I did one last year too actually, you can see both of them in this post: http://vk.com/wall261459062_195

It's interesting to know that they are quite an old couple, I thought that this was only their second season as adults

They are cute, but definitely need to step up their skating skills. I was watching a stream from TEB with a Russian coach, I think it was Tarasova, and she criticised them quite a lot.

Alper was originally a singles skater, he switched to ice dance after 2009 World Championships. They started competing together only in 2010-2011 season, two years after he had started ice dance. So their age might sound old, but they are really young in ice dancing field, together.

From that point of view, this partnership and the results are really magical! I like the effort they put in to represent Turkey at big competitions and make history in every step they take.

Thank you Alisa&Alper

It is impossible not to proud of them  I love them so much. I don't understand technical issues at all about skating but I can even see that they have improved their skating skills and I believe they will more.As they say 'What don't kill us make us stronger' :hap10: :thank:
